I was wondering if anyone has had this happen or knows of anyone who has been told that their bubs is one sex only to get the other????
For those who havnt read my other post...
"""BOY!!!!!.... we hope! the sonographer was only 50% sure that its a boy because bubs still had his legs crossed and he thought he could see what looked a bit like a diddle but no balls!!!????? He couldnt say that its a girl because well he couldnt see much!!! he admitted that it may be the cord and to not buy anything gender specific or get too into a boy but i cant help it!!!! its so good to kinda know. It may still be a girl but im sticking with boy until proven otherwise """"
Even after being told this my family and DH! are still convinced that bubs is a girl!! which is kind of upsetting me because it feels like bubs is not being accepted so im wondering whether theres a chance or should i just go on my merry way being happy about my wee boy and not worry about them???

Ummmm... well it has happened before - on here I remember Lissel's "baby girl" turning out to be a baby boy! (I think that was the right way round?)
And especially with a 50% chance... I don't know if I'd get too excited about a boy if there is going to be disappointment if the sonographer was wrong. But if it isn't a matter of disappointment and you are prepared for the possibility of a girl then get as excited as you wish!!

at this stage it can look a bit weird, sometimes little girls bits are very swollen and can look like boys, and boys bits can be small and look like girls.. unless they got a good look i would keep it neutral until properly confirmed.

i think a lot of girls turn into boys...esp for those who had a 20 week scan or so and no more....it would pay to recheck for sure...we did...altho mum started buying pink anyways....
If cord was in way then i would suggest a rescan later on ...perhaps have a good check at a growth scan etc....we did one at 28-30 weeks and guy scanning counted out her labia etc to convince DH it was a girl...and to shut him up for me!!!! (he wanted a boy!)

My friends sister got told absolutely that her baby was a boy, sonographer was positive. Sure enough, when her baby girl was born she had alot of clothes to return!

One of my work mates was told she that they were almost certain it was a boy and he ended up being a girl

To be honest if it is only 50% then I would wait until you haved another scan and see if that can confirm it for you.

I just took it as he was 50% sure it was a boy but wasnt any % sure it was a girl BUT i did think about the swolen bits thing because he should of at least seen the balls!!! they generally stand out like...well...balls!!! when i had a scan to find out sex of Bay his little doodley looked like a 3rd leg!!!(overexagerated but it was big!) with dangley things!!! so no mistaking there.
Well it sounds pretty common so i guess il stop my buying and wait til bubs is born to find out Im obviously an eager beaver!! but its obvious that bubs really doesnt want us to know!

Ok so iv just recieved my scan pictures in the mail (first time i havnt been able to take them with me after the scan!!??) and the sonographer has cut off the couple of pictures that he took of bubs "gender" (the ones he was using to show me what he thought might be doddle!)????!!! Why would he do this!!!??? it has been obviously cut out of the line of photos and i saw him type "babies gender" on it! because he was writing what everything was on each photo...im really confussed as to why he did this!!??? and why i couldnt just take my photos with me like i always do????

I wouldn't trust it with that result. My sisters daughter was supposed to be a son, and her son a daughter, so unless it is obvious I don't put too much store in what they say.
Talk to your MW about another scan - that is what we are going to do. If she won't go for another normal one we might shell out for a 4d scan, that is how much we want to know!
Re scan results - give them a call!

Are we entitled to another scan or will she need to come up with an excuse for one???
How much would it cost for one if i requested it just to find out sex???
How much are the 4D ones and where are they done???

I might be wrong but I don't think you are entitled to another unless something is up, my 20 week one was to be my last but i have a low lying placenta so I have to have another @ 30weeks to see if it's moved. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't get another

Im meant to have another in the mid 30 weeks to make sure i dont get Olygohydosis again but i think that if i get that far without knowing then i may as well just wait a few more weeks to see it for myself

At my 20 week scan we were told we were having a girl. I then had a growth scan at 38 weeks and was told that it looked like 'i was having a boy!..she even showed me the bits........well I was in denial (as you would be if you thought for the majority of your pregnancy that you were having a little girl) right up until giving birth.......and well the docs held baby up, and DP proudly told me baby was a BOY.
So I'd say to stick to neutral colors, and in all honesty once you see you're baby you won't even give one single hoot about whether she's a girl or he's a boy. I had my heart set on a little girl but as soon as I saw my beautiful baby boy being held up in the air, I just cried tears of joy, we had only thought of a boys name that day aswell.
As for all my pinkies a brought...I was able to give them to my cousin who had twin girls a week before a had Kahtrell.
I can't imagine my life without him, he was, and still is the best surprise ever!

They can send you for growth scans, I think they do that around 26-30 weeks? Various places do the 4d in Auckland, the cost is over $100, but I am still shopping around.
I remembered the story my back up midwife told us last visit about one of her ladies who had been told she was having a girl, then had a boy - the lady burst into tears when told it was a boy. She had been shopping and bought tons of things all in very girly colours. The mw said, that is ok, you can take it back, upon which the lady cried harder - she had been so organised that she had washed everything before she put it in draws!
That concerned me a lot to be honest- so far I have bought nothing!

Oh my goodness!! I dont think i would cry unhappy tears if my bubs isnt what they say because i will be so over the moon to have a healthy bubs regardless of sex! I guess thats why im trying to keep open minded and find out stories so i know that it does happen.
I guess that counts me out for a 4D scan because i dont really want to drive 4 hours to get it!
But like i said - im getting use to the thought that i will have to wait till bubs is born im more anxious now to see bubs face as this was something the sonographer couldnt see and id like to know that all is well.

I had a 4d scan with Brae in Hamilton. Dont know how much it would cost as i was there at the right time (It was a new thing the had just brought out & the sonographer needed practise on the new machine)

I had a close friend who was told it was a boy - and out popped a girl! !
So it sounds like a common occurance!
Although I am waiting to see what flavour our little one is (when they are born), it would be nice to get some pinks or blues! I have been promised HEAPS of boy clothes (if its a he!). But its a wait and see game!

ive heard of it happening heaps before.
when i had scan with haleigh the lady said she was 99% sure it was a girl but to stick to neutral as they ahve been know to be wrong, she also said the same thing when they rescanned me at 34wks.
the lady this time round said the same thing, she was certain it was a boy but she said get them to confirm at the scan at 32wks andf to not go boy clothes crazy which we wont until he's born we will stick to neutrals till after he's born.

I'm scared now if this one turns out a boy he'll have heaps of pink lol.
If scan guy said 50% boy wouldn't that make it 50% girl as well

Yeah thats what everyone else said but he said that he was 50% sure it was a boy but 0% sure it was a girl so i took that to mean that its more a boy than anything else

Thats part of the reason I didnt want to find out the sex, as I heard they can be wrong. Also it doesnt really matter what we have and I like surprises. Although it didnt stop me trying to tell at the 20 week scan!!! Now I am thinking that it could go either way even though I have feelings its a boy. HMMM

I had such a real feeling that my son was a girl i was deadset! but nop he was a boy so my intuition wasnt right on that one. With this bubs iv had a feeling that it was both! - at first i thought boy (but then thought i was probably just willing it to be boy having wanted another boy) then now even after being told it 'may' be a boy i still think it may be a girl but like you i dont care either way now! and im only carrying one bubs so my intuitions are obviously off with this one too! LOL (seen as iv changed my mind on what i thought it was! so it cant be one of each! LOL).

Well I keep thinking of this bubs as a girl, most people do becuse that is what we have been told it most likely is. But every dream I have had a bout it, it has been a boy!
So we are going with green in the nursery, it seems safest!

Well, after reading this thread and talking to people, we have decided not to bother with another scan in an attempt to find out the gender. I am too worried they will tell us the wrong one! SO I guess we have to be happy with a surprise.
LOVE your tickers Baysmum!

hehe thankyou miss i stole the ticker idea off Kellz! lol they are very cute!!
Well im going to see what my MW has to say about another scan but if not then we are happy to wait as we dont mind what bubs is anyway im just kind of curious now because even after telling everyone (family and friends) that bubs is a boy! they are ALL still adament that its a girl!!! and i never told most of them that the sonographer wasnt sure i just said "yay its a boy" so i was shocked at their reactions! made me very curious as to whether he was wrong or not! AH well!
