Hey,

I just had first midwife appt today and she told that I am due 2nd Nov (thought it was more like end of Oct)- so have been hanging out in Oct07 but wil now check out both I think.

How you feeling DJ? I have been feeling a bit dodgy in the evenings, but nothing too major - seems to be bought on by tiredness.

This is my first baby too, and DH and I are a bit scared and excited at the same time. Such a big step to take. Was a planned thing, but all happened in first month off pill - didn't think it would be that quick.

All the best and looking forward to sharing the journey

Hi all

Thanks for the Congrats and great to hear from the other newbie girls!

I am feeling a little dodgy from time to time but nothing too bad yet. Very sore boobs and did have a couple of Nana naps in the weekend thou!!

We also got preg the first month trying, and while very happy, it is quite a lot to get your head around. I can't seem to get a midwife to return my calls yet. My GP recommended I get onto booking in ASAP because they are in short supply, so hopefully I will hear from someone soon...

Now one thing you girls can help me with - what does DH stand for?!

DH - dear husband! I learnt that one yesterday - there is a thread somewhere with all the abbreviations!

yeah DH - DEar Husband
DP - Dear Partner
DF - Dear Fiance
DD - Dear Daughter
DS - Dear son

or dear could be darling
sometimes jsut easier hehe

Yeah midwifes do book up quickly and there is a real shortage in them.
I found it hard here in Lower Hutt to find one especially when I changed midwifes at 17wks (dont recomend looking for one that late)
Just keep calling them until you get a reply sometimes they are jsut so busy

Congrats November Mummies to be - this time last year I was one of you! (my girls arrived 2 1/2 weeks early in mid Oct).

Making this a sticky - and hoping those growing beans are sticky ones too!

LisaJay - I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks and had a d and c, then fell pregnant again with my gremlins only a few weeks later. I was a nervous wreck for the first 3 months (actually the whole pregnancy ) worrying about every little cramp and spot, but my girls are here and thriving. Your wee one will be here in no time at all! If it helps put your mind at ease, ask your GP for an early dating scan, I know my anxiety decreased a lot after my first scan at 6 weeks when we saw the heartbeat (then went right back up to sky-high again a few weeks later when they found a second heartbeat ).

Enough waffling from me, congrats again November Mums-to-be!

Hello!!

I am brand new to this board, and am looking forward to getting to know you all.

I got a positve on a pg test on Friday morning. Due in november - but not sure on dates. Doc says i am 5 weeks based on my last period. This is my first pregnancy and we got pg on our second cycle of trying.

Am feeling good. Boobs are a little sore, and am a bit tired. Felt terrible on friday with morning sickness but nothing since then - am a little worried about that...

anywho, can't wait to chat with your girls soon

Thanks for the welcome ladies!

can anyone tell me - is it a bad sign if morning sickness stops and doesn't return? I am petrified of a miscariage (been a few in my family) and am freaking out - i havn't had any since Friday.

woke up at 4am and felt my boobs for soreness (as you do!) and they didn't hurt! so again, freaked out and hardly slept the rest of the night! Bit sore again this morning though - huge relief!!

so can any experienced ladies help me out? I would really appreciate some advise!

Callalily, I'm not sure about the morning sickness thing. I never had any morning sickness when I was pregnant with Alex, and so far this time have been feeling pretty good too. But if you are worried I would say give your midwife a ring. They really don't mind, and its much better than you worrying all day and night!!

Hey Callalily, I cant say that I have really had any morning sickness yet, just a kinda bloated "funny" tummy, altho boobs were so in the weekend, they arent too bad now.
I wouldnt mind a touch of MS just to make it more real!!
I am 6 weeks. Went to Dr today and my blood pressure is up so she wants to keep an eye on that-otherwise all is good

Lol - be careful what you wish for LisaJay!!

I am 7 weeks and feeling sick almost all the time - just varying degrees of badness!

At least my boobs aren't as sore anymore. I can feel hardness lower down in my belly - I think that might be my uterus which is quite exciting (at least to me) - my sister said her tummy was harder (skinny cow!)

hi girls - well went to the midwife last night and she is a little worried - so am have 3 lots of HCG blood tests to see if they are doubling as they should be. Had my first today.

Woke up to boobs being barely sore at all - so am not feeling overly positive that this pregnancy is going to continue.

Will come back when i have news on these bloods - in the meantime, all you girls are under strict instructions to grow your babies!

Am having wicked amounts of morning sickness, it lasts all day although today is the first day i have actually thrown up, boobs very sore and can feel something going on in my belly, (other than morning sickness!!)

Will write more after have had scan, cant wait me and DF are soooooo excited.

I really hope everything goes well for u callalily, my thoughts are with u now

Hi Mybelly, and welcome to the November club!!! Hope you stop feeling icky soon. I'm just starting to feel sick, which is exciting as I'm hoping seeing as I wasn't sick with my son, I will be having a girl this time if I am sick!! I am quickly finding I need to eat something small about every 2 hours to stop feeling sick. And all I feel like eating is plain food and vegies (which is very different from my 1st pregancy when I craved chocolate the whole 9 months!!)

Anyway, good luck with your scan!!
Can't wait to get to know you!!

Well I am still feeling fine, no m/s but plenty of tiredness - in fact had to have day off on Friday because I couldn't handle the thought of one more day of people and work. DH has been good, doing a few more things around the house, cos once I have made dinner, I collapse on couch and don't really move again.

Was naughty yesterday and bought a cot off TradeMe - am really pleased with it, and though it is probably a bit early it means that we can do some touchup work on it between now and end of October...

Everyone knows here at work now, too hard to keep quiet. So getting lots of people trying to be funny - little comments and advice - can't imagine how I will get through next 7 months!

Hope all the rest of you are well

How are you all feeling?
I craved and still crave savoury things, with Haleigh it was all sweet which is how we knew it was a boy this time round.

I never had the problem with a metallic taste but Im sure someone might have a way to get rid of the taste.

hope you all are feeling well adn dont get hit with bad m/s.

Sorry I have no ideas on the metallic taste problem. Even brushing 10 times a day doesn't work!! I guess its just one of those things that will go away with time. Leem&Bridge I am just the same, love chocolate, but all I want is savoury food this time round. With Alex I ate chocolate everyday!! (hmmm that might be part of the reason I put on 20kgs!!) I am hoping that it means I am having a girl this time... but then that doesnt quite work if I look at Monique!?!

I am feeling good today, only a little bit sicky in the tum, and havn't fallen asleep yet so thats a bonus!! I went shopping yesterday, and had a bit of a spend up at Egg!! Naughty, but I figure seeing as I don't need to buy anything for baby this time round I can spend it on maternity clothes!! (Oh and I did pop into pumpkin patch for a touch of NB clothes shopping too!!) (Im a shopping addict!!)

Hi annmarie! all the best for your pregnancy!

I'm doing good - although had a terrible sleep last night, loads of vivid dreams, and waking every few hours. So feel very tired today. even felt a bit sickey this morning!!!

Bloods on Monday were good 17000 and something. No more hcgs needed. Have my scan in three weeks time and my first ob appt on the 23rd april. So have my fingers and toes crossed that the baby sticks and grows how it is supposed to in the meantime.

nicola-ann - can you reccommend a good place for jeans?. i am down to one pair that isn't tight on my belly. don't know if thats baby or too many toffee pops!

with jeans have oyu tried Egg, JK or pumpkin patch??
they have some nice styles.
I am very lucky I still fit all my prepreg clothes (Im only gianing a bump this time hehe). with Haleigh I jsut wore pant and I had a thing my mw got for me from the physio because I was retaining fluid at the bottom of my bump so that made my bottom of my bump comfy.

Egg Jeans are great. I have a couple of pairs. They are a bit pricey, about $150, but well worth the investment. There web site is www.egg.co.nz. Pumpkin patch is good too, and cheaper than egg. I have a few patch jeans. But my advice would be to get a pair that have a big stretchy waist band, not the ones that look like normal jeans and can be let out. I found they didn't sit very well, and weren't as comfortable (some of them are designed to sit under your bump). Although thats just me.

Callalily, thats great your bloods are ok. I'm sure baby will be fine. Will be great to have your scan. I am having a dating scan in about 3 weeks too. I'm actually feeling quite good today, after having a bad day yesterday. Had a terrible night with Alex last night. He woke about midnight and threw up until 4am, so I'm tired today. My poor little man. He has never been sick like that before. And I felt really guilty because he was grumpy yesterday, and I was feeling crap, and got annoyed with him for grizzling all day. If only he could tell me he was feeling sick!! Oh well, a nice quiet day at home today should do wonders for both of us!!

Just checking in!

After a 'feeling great' week last week, I have had a bit of a queasy week this week - vomited after breakfast the other day - was hungry before then felt sick - same feeling last night after dinner - is this normal? What are you other mums-to-be doing about your eating habits so far to deal with m/s?

Hi there ladies have come to join in, am due on the 21st November.. had first lot of bloods yesterday, so waiting for results to "confirm" however am already having all the same stuff as with my 2 girls .. woke up the morning i did the pregnancy test, with the overwhelming urge to be sick and thought to myself "i don't even need to do this test, i know i am"

Anyways, a bit about me, I have a 3 yr old and a nearly 2 yr old .. paris and Ayja, this will be baby number 3, Mike had a vasectomy last november, very ironic lol.. turns out it didn't work and our other methods in the meantime failed too. we are slowly getting used to the idea of having 3 under 5yrs.

I currently work in the neonatal unit here, so am probably going to have trouble handling my own baby i guess cos i am now used to handling tiny 2 or 3 pound babies.. if any 7lb-ers come in i think they're huge! lol. as long as my baby does not end up in there i am happy whatever it is.

The metallic taste is normal. can't remember why it is, but is gross, tastes like you've been sucking car keys or something.. constant brushing teeth does nothing, except make your gums bleed - which is also normal

With MS, alot of people find its actually from sheer hunger, if you have small snacks throughout the day it gets better, Took me a bit to figure that out but 3rd time round i am so far dealing with it ok. I tend to get hella hungry so have to stop myself from scoffing things and overfilling. but some tricks i have found were nibbling gingernuts.. ginger is great for anti-nausea, sipping sprite, i leave it to go a bit flat and that keeps the sugar levels up without overfilling with fluid. and also, staying away from really overpowering tastes in the first little while. and to make sure you keep water intake up, i used to fill pump bottles with water and a little bit of melon or strawberry flavoured vitafresh (not the whole sachet) and put em in the freezer, you can only drink as much as had melted which stops you from getting all full and yucky.. but keeps up the fluids.

With my girsl i loved savoury stuff, but that's cos sickly sweet stuff makes me feel icky - although cocoa pops were a favourite snack because i got the choc hit without too much sicklyness, and i got my calcium requirements too cos i'd have cereal with fruit as a snack. I used to also have a small bottle of chocy milk everyday. and savoury scones and stuff. I have no idea what this one will be - actually a little scared if it is a boy cos i have no idea about them at all!

Anyways that's me. can't wait to get to the exciting stages again - the movement and scans and all that stuff. glad to have others to share it with.

Feel like ihave talked too much. - feel free to tell me to shush!

ha ha, we again already - have just had a proper read back and wow - there are a fair few of us due on the 21st aren't there?

With Morning sickness and sore boobs etc, I found i worried alot and still do, but mine did seem to come and go depending on how tired i was, what i was eating, how i was feeling what i was doing. It's almost some times you feel bad for actually feeling ok, and worry the whole time. It's like being part of the "knicker-checkers" club.

We are starting from scratch as we had gotten rid of everything ayja was too old for. We have no baby clothes, no baby toys, luckily we got her a kewl american convertible cot last year - sadly she will loose her bed and it won't be "converted" in to that junior bed after all. She'll get a new big girl one though. We need to upgrade to a mummyvan too.
I also just got rid of my "preggy" jeans. darn it. They weren't maternity ones - which i found were weird fitting as i tend to just have a basketball bump out the front. I went and got a size up pair of jeans from Jayjays, button fly and they were great. wil have to go buy new ones now.

My tummy feels a little hard very low down, but i have felt really bloated and my tummy has looked largish for a few weeks - Ayja stuffed my stomach muscles - i am seriously worrying that i will never get my tummy back again after this one. he he, i took a picture the other day and thought "geez i look preggers heaps!" Mike reckons this one will have heaps of room to grow cos my stomach muscles aren't as tight anymore. Better not be too big!

Nicola-Ann, congrats on your upcoming wedding too., We were planning ours for march next year but it's getting pushed back a year now. ok, seriously am going to go do some housework now before mike gets back from class. lol

i am fairly lucky in that Both Paris and Ayja still have day sleeps, paris is only for about an hour most days, and ayja is usually anywhere from an hour to 2 hours. they usually go to daycare anyway, and i have them home for the day, or for the afternoon, on my days off, depending which shift ihave worked the day before. Sometimes they are both home together other days i take turns so they each get some alone time with me. It's a bit of a juggling act. however I am back to work next week, so we'll see how the tiredness hits me then. This week off came at a really good time.

Hey everyone, well i have had the biggest week!! ive had the worst morning sickness since tuesday before last and havent been able to keep ANYTHING down! including water! and when i had nothing to come up the bile started to! so i went to the doctor on tuesday just gone, and was told that because of the amount of ketones in my urine i needed to be hospitalised asap because basically ketones are a sign of severe dehydration and starvation and it shows your body is living off its own fat!
so after 5litres of fluid was pumped into me, i was feeling heaps better, and im now home again after 3 loooong days of being poked and prodded etc.
oh any i had another scan yesterday (they thought something was wrong the 1st scan, something about the baby not developing right ) but all turned out fine, saw the baby and got scan photo and am now 7weeks 1 day pregnant! due on the 15th November.
am very excited and now just have to convince DF to make and bring me a bit of toast every morning before i get up to make the morning sickness less!

Hey Girls,

I'm a newbie, first pregnancy, and due about the 21st Nov!!

I'm so excited. I want to tell everyone I see, but also want to keep it quiet for a bit. It was sooo hard not to tell my Mum on the phone the other day (she's in Levin and I'm in ChCh), I want to tell my parents in person

Well, I'm yet to go to see a midwife, I forgot to call from work last week I only seem to have sore, full feeling boobs and occasionally light-headed and often hungry!!!

Look forward to keeping in touch and meeting up with some other Christchurch Mums-to-be.

we have yet to contact a midwife, stupid i know as i know they fill fast here. I am hoping to get the midwife that delivered Ayja.

We had the same midwife for both pregnancies, however she had to go away when i was due to have ayja, so she had a fill in (who was my little sisters midwife at the time).. who, was busy with someone else when i actually delivered Ayja. She called in someone else who got there just in time to break my waters and deliver Ayja 10 mins later. lol.   anyway.. we are hoping to get her as Mike said she was good and told me off as i felt out of control .. Ayja's birth was far too fast and painful... its scares me that this one will probably be faster than that! I mean Ayja's was 3 and a half hours from first niggles to baby in arms.. dunno if i actually want to beat that time.

Hi LisaJay. We are getting married June 23rd too!! We were going to get married in October, but I'll be too fat by then, and don't want the stress of a wedding in the last month of pregnancy, so now we have less than three months to plan our whole wedding!! ARRRRGGGG!!! I just had my dating scan on Friday, and am due November 18th!! I was due November 16th with Alex (Feb must be my fertile month!!) So we can share stressfull wedding planning together!!

Hi Bel & Lisa-Jay,

I'm getting the cramps as well, they are just like light period pain, I have them on and off as well. I have spoken to two doctors about them and they have said the same, don't worry about them unless there is blood with it and it is all just your body stretching getting ready for the baby and it shouldn't last all pregnancy - I hope not!!!!! I found just taken panadol makes it go away and the doctors said that was safe.

Good i was just about to come ask on here as i remember a few small crampys with my 2nd but not the constant dull full ache feeling like i have. I think it's just cos everything is getting a bit crowded until the 12 week mark when the uterus pops out of the pelvis.. and everything falls back into it's rightful place. argh. so long to go till then.

But my midwife assures me its ok, it wasn't a lot, and it stopped and I had no pain, so should be fine. Am supposed to be having a scan to make sure but I havn't heard from them yet.. typical!! Hi everyone!

well not too much news - felt nauseaus this morning!! !!!!! Has passed though, only had it for a couple of hours.

Been to my crohns spec (i have crohns disease), and he sent me off for some blood tests this morning. Was kinda hoping he might want to do a scan - but no such luck.

oh well, have a scan form for 20th April, so only a couple of weeks away. Fingers crossed we see a strong heartbeat! Was feeling sooooo negative yesterday, i was convinced i had had a missed miscarriage - boobs were hardly sore, no nausea, loads more energy. So was stoked to feel a bit sicky this morning!!!!

Does anyone else have symptoms that come and go day by day? Or am i just weird?

**lurk lurk***

CallaLily - I got all panicky when my morning sickness stopped. Thought all bad things and generally got myself quite distressed about it all.... I had a 12 week scan (on the premise of confirming confused dates....) which was amazing and eased all my worries instantly! I have spoken to all my friends with babies - and I think its natural to get worried when this happens...its a funny time, most of us wont be 'showing' yet, and when you stop feeling sick its almost like you stop feeling pregnant! Try not to worry, (I know easier said than done!!)

Although my morning sickness has gone, and my boobs arent sore anymore I am still very tired and I get the odd pang of nausea, but so few and far between that they are very easy to cope with!

The next few weeks until your scan will fly by...and you will see your wonderful little baby!!

Hi ladies, Nicola-Ann, that would have been a bit freaky with the bleeding - i know a few ladies on here bled quite consistently throughout their pregnancies and went on to deliver healthy wee bubs though. Hope they get back to you soon about the scan.

You might have seen my post about the hcg levels. Am so confused right now. I really truely do not think that i could have gotten preggers 2 weeks ealier, not only would ihave had my period during that time (a very normal heavy 8 days worth... so def not implantation) but Sadly, because of kids and work commitments etc, me and DF don't get much time or energy for intimacy, so i can't think of any time it would have happened earlier than that. lol.   I am realllly going to push for a scan. Just waiting for the MW i rung to get back to me. Hopefully she says she'll take me on as a patient.

Still feeling mega-yucky. goes away sometimes. Today's my first day back at work, I start in a couple of hours, i hope my night goes quickly and quietly and stress-free and that the unit is quiet.

we are off to Hawkes bay for easter and then when we are back i get to have my scan the next week. yup i am SO counting down. i want to see our bubba so i can stop worrying about preggy symptoms.

How was your first day back at work mum2paris? was it busy?

hey Calla, hope your easter is all good. will be so exciting to have the scan.

My first night back at work i felt like i was chasing my own bum all night!, lol, i had 4 demand feed babies - who all demanded at once each time they were hungry. was CRAZY. plus was mega tired and probably didn't drink as much as i should have. have today off thankfully but am on for the next 3 nights after this.

Leem hope that cold goes away soon, our girls have got runny noses, so i am picking we are in for something soon - Paris's asthma is mucking around too so i wonder if this easter will be full of sickness.

Can't wait till easter, now that both kids are old enough to enjoy it. Mike keeps teasing them and saying that chocolate is for the adults.

well had a wee 'oh my god' earlier today. went for a 10 minute walk, came back and went to the loo, and got some greeny/yellowy with a tinge of brown/pink discharge after wiping (sorry if TMI). only a teeny tiny amount but enough for me to think 'that probably shouldn't be there'.

spoke to midwife who said its all fine - phew! But still gave me a fright none the less. She said to take it easy over the weekend, and any cramping blood etc go straight to hospital. But she said not to worry about it. hhhmmmmm easier said than done i think!

Calla I had a discharge like that last night. After my bleed the other day the discharge wasn't too worrying. God I can't wait to get to 12 weeks, hopefully then I will relax a little and be able to start enjoying this pregnancy and get excited about baby. At the moment I don't feel excited at all. I told a couple of my good friends the other day, and they were much more excited than I am. I feel really guilty that I don't feel excited this time round, even though baby was planned and we had been trying for quite awhile. With Alex I was so excited. I wonder if its just that I've been through it before and so its not all new and so not as exciting??

On the up side my morning sickness has stopped and I'm feeling heaps better!! Still get tired but its now much more managable.

Ok thats enough moaning from me. I hope everyone has a great Easter and eats lots of chocolate (because you have a good excuse this year!!)

hey Belly - how sucky it must be being so sick though! I couldn't handle that as i hate being sick completely. I am still having overwhelming nausea, have not thrown up, but have the feelings now that doesn't matter if i eat or not it's still there. Everyone says that i must be having a boy cos i sure as heck didn't get this with the girls, i got a bit icky but not heaps, granted it carried on till around 18 weeks with them though. I reckon my body is just too good at being preg and has kicked into overdrive. lol

Saw midwife for first visit yesterday, and have a referral for an early scan. YAY! will book it for next week.

anyways, hope you all have a great easter, and can stomach some chocy. I like to freeze it, makes it less sickly.

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a good Easter. Looks like lots of us are feeling sickly so probably not too much chocolate eaten?

Well the nausea kicked in for me over the weekend, i had 3 mornings in a row of waking up at 2am with nausea and not being able to get back to sleep for an hour! Feel terrible in the mornings and am on liquids only - up and go's are my saviour!

Have had some tummy cramps - but i have Crohns Disease so its likely that its just that, and always in the mornings which is consistant with my Crohns, so am not worried about it.

I have my scan next week too! just need to book it in! can't wait :) Want to see our baby!

Has anyone else rounded out in their tummy? I know i am still to early to show, but it certainly looks like i am showing a little! :)

Talk soon!

ok just had to come back and have a whinge. Just booked in my scan and the lady on the phone was soooo abrupt with me! She asked me how many weeks i will be at appt (on Friday 20th) and i said almost 10 - and she said "So why are you having a scan? - you should be coming in at 12 weeks not 10".

My doc gave me the scan form and told me to book it for around the 21st April - i didn't ask for the scan! Anywho thats pretty much what i told her, but man, talk about deflating my balloon. I was so excited to book it in, she was not very nice

Grrr Callalily, grumpy ultrasound people really make me cross. Most people only have one or two scans during their pregnancy, it's really the least they can do to make it a special experience for you. I had 17 all up with the gremlins and I had major problems with Auckland X-ray, they were rude, rushed the scan and took awful 4D pics. I wrote them a complaint letter and they offered to do the scan again for free. My whole point was that while it wasn't such a big deal for me coz I got to see my babies every 2 weeks, sometimes more often, if that was your only scan and they treated you the way they treated me you'd be devastated.

It's really not that hard to be nice! Auckland Radiology in Avondale were great and so were Ascot and Auckland Radiology Panmure.

ha I had a friend who went and a scan at 11wks and they made her feel really stupid - asked here why she was there and what she wanted them to do. In the end she said they ended up quite nice, but started off rude.

I am due for my scan on Friday, will be interesting to see what they say to me...
