Just wondering where everyone is in regards to cm size.
I know everyone is different, but I read that it should be approximately equal to how many weeks you are.
At 30 weeks, I'm measuring 34cm.
I expecting him to be of gigantic proportions anyway, but just wondering if this is 'really' that much bigger than normal?

some people do just measure bigger, but as long as it is consistant (IE at 31 weeks you are 35) it isn't too much of a big deal, you may be sent for a growth scan though.
FYI at 31 weeks I measured 33cm

Thanks Sarah Beth.
I was measured today, but forgot that I'm 31 weeks tomorrow, so I guess it's not THAT much bigger.
At nearly 29 weeks I was 32 cm so pretty consistent.

yip that sounds good to me (in my very unprofessioanl opinion of course). If you or midwife is worried you can go for a scan to check size.

I'm sure your midwife would say something if it was something to worry about!

The give or take is usually 2cm, so 3cm is fine. I suspect your baby growth spurted this week just gone and that you'll be just 2cm over next time, or thereabouts.
Why are you expecting a big baby?

My MIL keeps reminding me that all of her children were 9.5lbs+, so if he takes after DP, then I am expecting him to be quite big. Although I was only 7lbs, so maybe he'll take after me. He's just measured quite big at all the stages, like over 23 weeks at my 22 week scan.

How do you measure? I have been trying to feel the top of my uterus but dont really know what to feel for...All i know is it should be near my belly button around now. (19wks, 1 day - not what my ticker is saying today)

I don't know how accurate measing exterior is - or actually scans for that matter! the amount of people who have been told they are having big babies then have a baby between 8-9 lbs (which is sa decent size but not scary!)when expecting well over 9lbs is quite high from what I have read!
I know that they expect the scans to show a different size each time which is why the earlier ones are condsidered more accurate than the later ones as a predictor of due dates. My 3 scan dates so far are June 24, 22 and 18.

my midwife hasnt measured my bump yet, but with haleigh i was right on the dot.
I dont believe scans weight estimates for the fact I was told Haleigh wasnt going ot be over 8lb and she was 9lb 13oz. So I wont believe them this time when they try to tell me the est weight of this bubs when I have my 32wk scan.
But all they cna do is guess.

Miss - they use the scans more just to find out if you are within normal ranges, and the measurements for fundal height are not a good indicator, especially if you are over weight

I wouldn't personally be too concerned. I measured bigger right thru and my midwife reckoned I'd be having a big baby. Amelia was 8lb 4oz, so she wasn't huge. Sometimes it's just the way you carry - from the back nobody would have known I was pregnant!

DH and I were both 7 pounders...we ended up with miss 9 pound 8!!!
I measured 2 - 4 weeks ahead throughout...and at 35 measured 39 and at 38 weeks measured 41 plus!!! We just threw away the tape after that...actually specialist face was funny when he decided the measurements were a load of crap with me anyways...breechbaby didnt help measurements either..

My doc measured me for the first time on mon - I was measuring 28cm at just over 26 weeks, but she seemed happy with the growth. My scans have shown an edd exactly the same as my edd based on lmp so far.
Sounds like alot of people measure slightly more than they should for their date (I was starting to worry if bub would be big too! haha) .. but I also think bub has just gone through a growth spurt as I was really hungry for a few weeks and gained alot of weight!

I wouldn't worry I thought I was huge and measuring well ahead but I was always bang on. And with your MIL so don't worry about her, I have learnt to ignore the "I had big babies" comments as all her babies were over 10lb and we haven't had one born over 10lb. My DH was 11lb 4 born and I was half an ounce under 10lb so everyone told us we would be having big babies. Nope ours have been average sizes just VERY long and thats their weight.

he he, i was the opposite, at your stage i was measuring 28 weeks and it was going backwards!.. still growth scan showed Ayja was just sitting curled up at the bottom of the womb and therefore it wasn't as high up as it should have been. Fair enough she was smallish at 6lb 2 but was only just on 37 and a half weeks, Paris i was tiny too and she was 7lb 3. outside mearuements depends alot on baby's postion and how your body lies and its proportions too. It's normal for scans to be either a bit bigger or smaller as well, If we had gone by our late growth scan with ayja her head was gonna be huge (i saw the circumference on the screen and nearly died!). I was 7lb born, and mike was 4 lb at 30 weeks. In the next few weeks you'll find you grow heaps as they usually start to stack on the weight at around this stage, and the last 6 weeks they get all the nice chubby fat too. Don't let it freak you out, no matter how big baby is, unless is mammoth sized, lol, you'll be fine.. i actually found the bigger of our two's birth much easier and nicer, bigger babies you can actually feel what you are trying to push out.

I was measuring 42 at 38 weeks with Maya (the day before I went into labour, she ended up being 9lb1oz) and with the gremlins they gave up measuring around 30 weeks coz it was too depressing - on my chart for 36 weeks (my last check up) my midwife wrote 50+

50+
I seem to carry my babies far back and measure 2-3 weeks behind, consistently throughout the 3rd trimester (I just get further and further behind lol) And then I have 7lb 3oz; 8lb 4oz; 8lb babies! Go figure.
