I have a six month old and for the last couple of months he has woken after being down for an hour or so at his night sleep screaming like he has had his leg cut off. He just starts this blood curdling scream for no apparent reason. I can settle him back after ten minutes or so but am bewildered as to why he is screaming like this. He is making no awake sounds before this, just starts screaming almost in his sleep. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Sorry - haven't had anything like this... could it be wind?? (I'm not even sure if wind upsets them at this age).
Hope someone can help you!!

It's definately not wind. It's almost like he's had a nightmare but about what at his age I have no idea.

Theres a thread about night terrors http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6248&PN=1 - here
I thought I had replied to it but obviously not...
Maya has night terrors on occasion, I have no idea what causes them but she is still fast asleep crying, fighting and screaming. I've had to slap her in the past to wake her up coz waking her is the only way to settle her down. When she wakes she is fine, doesn't remember a thing and is just a little startled.
She does seem to have them less frequently as she gets older...
