ok so i know it is normal for bleeding to go on for a while...but is it normal to have gushes (as in feels like u have a no control urine release) of blood - not brown but red blood with or without clots.

I am still passing clots but the gushes concern me...i have no control over them at all and there is a crapload of red blood that comes out...usually after a long feed from Gabriella. And should i still be bleeding like this now? or an i bleeding to death slowly internally!!!!

Every time you feed your baby, your uterus clamps down. This helps it get smaller, and forces the lining out faster. So, yes, what you are having is normal! It will take between 4 and 6 weeks for the discharge to stop altogther.

I had gushing too, particularly at first. Your pelvic floor muscles are weakened after having a baby (doesn't matter about what delivery method, the fact of the matter is Baby's weight has been pushing on them for the last few months!) so every time the bleeding starts, there's nothing to slow it down.

It is normal, unfortunately! Mine went on for 6 weeks, on and off after I had Ella, but for the last 2 weeks of it, it was very very light bleeding.
After I had Benjy I bled on and off for 10 weeks, sometimes heavy and sometimes hardly anything.
The gushes after feeding are to do with your uterus contracting back down while she feeds, it takes about 3 months apparently for it to finish shrinking.
If you're experiencing pain with it, or the blood smells bad, like rotten meat, it could be an infection or similar, so get your midwife to check it out.
Hope this helps!

Yap what becca has said!! I bleed for 40-45 days but unlike you and Becca, mine was bad for the first week and half and then slowed down to almost spotting but for 40 odd days!!

Dont worry its normal...but if you are worried talk to your midwife.

I had the odd time that when I fed it gushed. More so with the morning feed and that was my problem. It took a while to get over and now mine has finished YAY. As you have passed the 2 week mark (if you are anything like me and HATE pads) ask your MW if it is ok for you to use tampons (then you don't feel the gush) when you feed and then maybe just a liner for the rest of the day.

Your mw should be asking you how it's going each time she visits anyway! But yep it's normal like the others have said.

Oooo I was wondering about this as for the past couple of days (which happen to be day 10-14) my bleeding has been awful. Lots of red stuff and small gushes.

Glad to know it's normal.

Oh yeah, it was so nice not having a period for 9 months but having a constant 24 hour a day period for weeks on end is getting old very fast!

I hope you girls get back to normal quicker tho!

Apparently a c/s is more likely to make you get your AF back earlier too. It did for me but I don't know if that's just because it was my first baby or not.
