That stole my car! The police called me at 12.30am (yes am!) to tell me they had found my car and the person who took it, she had been pulled up for breath testing. The car is apparently intact and even my wallet is still inside, altho they can't say for certain that nothing is missing, and it doesn't look like there's any damage to the car itself and the carseats etc. are all there still. Will know more when we pick it up later today - it's all the way down in Ngaruawahia which is a pain in the butt!
The girlw who broke into our house has been charged with a heap of things as well as the burglary and theft of our car so hopefully she will be locked up (altho not holding my breath on that one!).
I am a bit gutted that it was a girl tho, I was expecting it to be a big guy. I feel a bit silly now for being so scared - if I woke up and found a girl in my house I'd bop her one!

That's such great news Emma. Very lucky indeed that she was caught - the horrible cow. Hope she does get locked up but with our stupid justice system I wouldn't count on it. Glad you recovered your car and things, hope nothing is missing.

LOL I have no doubt you would have, but when you have kids you have every right to be scared.
I am so glad it looks like you will get everything back you must be so relieved.
Fingers crossed she gets what she deserves!!

I'm OK. Was feeling quite anxious last night after I relocked the doors for about the fifth time - I kept thinking "what if they're watching us". So finding out that not only was she down in Ngaruawahia but also that the police had her in custody made me feel a lot better and I actually slept okay.
I'm still a bit freaked out at not waking up - makes me wonder if there has ever been someone in the house before and I haven't known even tho I know that's pretty unlikely.
Hopefully my camera and cell phone are still in the car too!

What a silly cow! I think Teresa is right - she must not have seen Willie or she would have been too freaked to go through with it!
Emma, we're here for you. I can understand how you feel, wondering if anyone else has been in your house when you are there... the feeling does pass, and until it does, feel free to come on here and vent!

I am so glad that there is a moderatly happy ending for you Emma! Still pretty horrific to experience though!
I am not sure (maybe someone with legal experience can advise) but I think that you can talk to the police / lawyers or courts about sentancing and be 'heard' as a victim. It may not make any difference, but at least someone will be aware that you had 3 beautiful babies in the house, and the affect and trauma it has caused you and your family.

I had a girl break into my flat when I lived in Christchurch. They're very sneaky! I don't think I would have wanted to approach her though as she was a very very scary and doped up prostitute. She managed to scatter a money box full of coins in a big trail from the window she left through, right around the house and out the front gate. Glad they found your car! It's really not nice knowing someone has been inside your home.

Yup, girls are crooks too - like the one on the burglary show that was on a year or so ago, where they broke into houses to show where problems are.
Glad that it has turned up for you, hope there is no damage and things settle down for you now!

OK so the policeman must have been hallucinating himself up a snowstorm coz the car was there in one piece, but everything else was GONE! Absolutely everything, right down to the muslin wraps and baby hats I had in the boot and the video tape that Peace sent me of the twins doco ( at myself for not taking it inside!)
On the bright side, I have spoken to State and everything is covered right down to the $5 Australian cash in my wallet and the cost of replacing drivers licences etc. The bugger is that means I actually have to ring around and get quotes for everything and then go out and rebuy things
Oh and my cell phone was there, she had taken my sim card out and ditched it somewhere and put her sim card in it. And my credit card - in HER wallet! Apparently she tried to pass herself off as me, hence why the police rang in the middle of the night to verify that the real me was actually at home in bed

hmmm hope she gets done for identity fraud too then...ask police what charges they are laying and add to them if you want to - push them and they will look at what they can charge her with
and write your victim impact statement now...while you are still MAD...she wont get to a hearing (if she pleads not guilty) for a good six months plus...and time does make you less mad....
Im annoyed that your stuff wasnt there...so there must be someone who has now taken possession of it too...um accessorie to a theft anyone...seriosuly talk to the police officer or go via victim support and push the charges....

Absolutely! Can you imagine me letting her get away with squat?
I spoke to the police this morning about the victim impact statement and told them I want to write my own instead of dictating it to them coz writing is what I do best - look out court! The bugger is that coz she was caught in Huntly the hearing will probably be in Hamilton so we'll have to drive down there, but hey it will be worth it. I'll make sure all three kids are there too for extra effect.
State have been brilliant, I got the quotes organised via phone today and they have faxed a credit note to the Baby Factory for the carseats, stroller etc. so I can pick the stuff up tomorrow morning, Noel Leemings are going to send me a new camera and they have direct credited a cash settlement for the other stuff to my bank. I'm still $450 out of pocket for the excesses tho (counts as two separate claims as the carseats come under the car and the other stuff comes under contents )
