I need to go to the dentist as one of my fillings is starting to come out. Its been getting gradually worse since before I found out I'm P, but I have been putting off going as I heard you're not supposed to get injections/have treatment while P.

Has anyone been or know if I can go or is it best to talk to my MW (who I am meeting in a couple of weeks)

I was advised by a plunket nurse to visit the dentist and get anything done if required.  You will find, well I founds anyway that my gums were really sore!

I went to dentist while I was pregnant, and it was fine. My dentist (who is just amazing!!!!-he should be I spend so much money there) knew lots about what was safe and what wasn't, and I guess your dentist will too. Toothache is NOT FUN!!!! And I think its best to get things done A.S.A.P so they don't get worse, I had funny gums in my pregnancy too.

Yup, I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled at about 24 weeks. I had anaesthetic, antibiotics and an x-ray too. They put the lead blanket over me, so everything was alright. If you can, wait till you're in your second trimester. My dentist told me that is the best time to go as it could be risky in the first trimester and the positioning of the chair could be too uncomfortable or painful in the third trimester. Good luck! I put mine off for way too long and ended up in the worst pain of my life.

I went and had 3 fillings done right at the start of my pregnancy (before I even knew I was preggy!!) - I was really worried when I found out, and rang my dentist and he advised me that the local that they had used was completely fine and safe (I didnt have Xrays thank goodness).

My best friend is also a Practice Mgr at a dental surgery and she says that they get lots of Pregnant ladies in for treatment, and apparently the 2nd trimester is best as you are less likely to throw up on the dentist!!

Whoops, I threw up on mine.

But it was cause I'd been given codeine to take and it made me feel really sick.

Cool, thanks for the advice! I'll wait a few more weeks when I'm into my 2nd Trimester just to be on the safe side, lucky its not hurting, but I could just see it getting bad at a time when I don't need it to!
