This is an embarrasing thing for me to talk about but i think i may have one,i am off to th Dr. when i wake up as i am in a lil bit of pain.

Has anyone had one while pregnant and if so wot did u do to ease the discomfort?I am pretty sure i have an external haemorroid as i coud feel a lil lump by my anus (sorry if this is weirding u out lol).

As u can see by the time of this post it is 330am as i cant seem to get to sleep cos of the pain.I have popped a paracetemol tab which i am not sure has helped ease the pain.

Anyway I think I will try get some sleep sorry again ladies about this topic but just really wanting reassurance/comfort in knowing i am not the only one who has had this happen to.

ouch, sorry i haven't had them. But a friend had them with her pregnancy and birth. After she gave birth the midwife told her that she had popped them out and to put them in, in the shower?????? I thought it was probably something i shouldnt of heard and chose to treat it that way and pretend that i hadn't. Sorry i cant be of much help.

I've had a few problems with haemmarroids after having Jake, however, I just ignored them and after a few painbful months, they went away. they were only painful when i went to the toilet so I jsut tried to drink lots of water and eat lots of fibre and stuff...not fun.

He prescribed some cream which is going to be fun to apply (NOT!!!).and just to keep up with fluids and fibre. He said it had thrombosed(?) which means that it has bled

He seems to think that in a few days of applying the cream i shall be a bit more comfortable as it shrinks it back down.I am scared to go #2 in case it hurts lol.

It is weird cos no one i no of in my family suffered from these yet i have a bit of trouble going to the loo once and I get one!!!

I said to Nath today that this pregs has def thrown all sorts at me lol.

LOLOLOLOL well ladies, the first one she suggested was to grate some potato and apply it like a compress (cant remember if u put some grated spuds up ya bottom),the second way is to carve a piece of spud in the shape of a bullet (prob about 2-3 cm long) and insert it up ya bum like a suppository.

How it works is that the potatoe draws the water to or from the haemmorroids(cant remember which it is).Oh and u use raw spuds lol.I think the spud is meant to draw the fluids from the haemmorroid thus shrinking them down.

Have never heard of that one before but am dying to know if it works! Couldn't she give you some nice medicinal cream or something instead? Lol

Ha ha ha, that is so funny about the potato theory. I told the other girls at my antenatal class about it last night and they were almost crying with laughter.....but I guess it must work if other people are recommending it.......might be a last resort for me too.......

Sorry to hear you all have runny noses, sore throats and all the rest of it that comes with being sick. I'm feeling fine (touch wood).  Sometimes it really does suck being pregnant because theres not a hell of alot out there that you can take.  Hope you all get better soon.

Zandersmum i hope that the heamoroids are getting better and going back where they came from.

Well I must say, drinking warm water and eating Oranges (can’t drink orange juice, I am allergic) and paracitamol really helped. My nose does get blocked occasionally but I can sleep at night with out waking up.....

And yes it sucks that I can’t take any thing...I hope I don’t get sick again any time soon....

I bumped this up because I want everyone thats going to be a new Mum and remind us other ones to know how important it is to eat lots of fruit and veges and drink lots of fluids to get everything happily moving...
It really helps prevent these horrid things and can help resolve them really fast afterwards if the occur!!

People really dont talk that much about it - probably due to embarassment but out of 10 in my original coffee group 5 of us had them and 2 of us had to have operations to fix them!!!!

I had not been told anything about haemoroids or piles and so when I had one - left it until after the birth and it all split open and caused untold problems for 18months and three operations later to rectify!!!

Dont mean to sound yuck or be the bearer of horrible news just think its something to know!!!

I would hate anyone to have to go through that stuff unnecessarily!!!

I was going to post about this as well but was too embarrased but i got them after having piper.

i went and got cream from chemist as too embarrased to see my doctor apart from that i'm just bearing with the uncomfort for the time being

I too got the "bum grapes" after having Caitlan. Gross name but gross condition and I needed to name them something that at least made them sound a little bit funny VERY VERY painful and even more embarrasing when you ahve to go to the Dr and bend over to show him ............ very unattractive.

And now after having Sam I haven't done them any favours. This relates to another thread recently about taking care of your bottom post birth which is so true. I think it is almost a given to end up with them after birth however some ladies are fine with them and have no trouble and others it's a nightmare.

I have a friend who had hers operated on after her first baby but they came back and now after bub #2 she has big trouble. To the point where at Karate one night - yes in her white suit one of them burst!!!!!!! You can imagine the mess and the embarrasment must have been awful. So I do sympathise with anyone who has them and for those ladies who are pregnant don't be embarrased to ask for help.

Posted By: Kelpa
Date Posted: 03 May 2006 at 3:25pm
Its not nice. Very embarassing and makes you feel yuck...I had three operations after Bub No 1 for these!! Am ABSOLUTELY paranoid of going through that again. (probably why it has taken me 6 odd years to have another one!!

Definitley go to the Doc!!!
