Kelly (Caitlynsmygirl) and I were at my sisters on Monday afternoon and were discussing strange baby names.
My sister has a Nanny for her baby. One of the Nanny's grandchildren is called Pummice because the Mum was walking along the foreshore of Lake Taupo.
And when Kelly was at Bethany before she had Caitlyn there was a lady who called her child Prints Eric
Lol

Prints?!?!?! I heard that you're not allowed to use certain titles for first names, perhaps "Prints" should have been a "Prince"? Still strange!
My godson is Stirling Hawkeye (as a first name) I'd like to mention here that I had nothing to do with that!

LOL, there is a law to say certain names are not allowed to be used.
I have a friend who worked with CIPS (SP?) and the stories we heard about names some people came up with and were rejected......

CYFS...LOL
anyways - my office cracked up this past year at Misyrah and destinee and I once came across a girl who called her child Savannah Florence Nightingale ## - when asked if she liked nursing she had no idea what i was talking about - she had just heard name and "just like it"..OMG!!!
there are some weird and wonderful ones out there and a lot of misspellings by the parents too...the most famous misspelling would have to be OPRAH who was meant to be ORPAH but her daddy filling in the form spelt it wrong...and look where she is now!!!

I went to school with some unusually named girls.
There was one called 'Precious Princess'
One called 'Baby' and one called 'Billy-Jean Stanley'
My favourite though, is a friend of a friend whose girlfriend named her baby 'True-Destiny' or 'Trudi' for short!

You would think that if certain names weren't allowed, then the twins Acid and Hash wouldn't have been so named, nor the child, Kurupt.

I work at the Land Registry and one of the guys here used to keep a book of all the strange names we found. It's amazing what people come up with like Austin Martin (as in the car) there are allot of Ronald McDonalds out there and things like William Williams and Mary Magdalin (sp). I can't think of any of the really funny ones right now but we have many a good laugh. It has made me choose pretty normal names for my girls.

I knew a guy who's name was Roger... not remarkable in itself, but his grandfather, father, uncle, 2 brothers and several male cousins were all named Roger as well. They all were known by their (different) middle names except for the grandfather - he was the "resident" Roger as the oldest one living.

My Mum's friend was Beverly Hill but to be fair that was her married name, how unfortunate that she married a man with the surname Hill.
And LMAO Suziq - when I told my sister what I was naming Mercedes she sarcastically asked if I was naming Sienna Porsche or VW.

Mercedes is a beautiful name, and the car was actually named after Mr Benz's daughter.
Did anyone see the pics of Apple in the latest WW she's a cutie. And celebe kids seem to get away with unusual names.
Its a huge responsibility for parents when naming their children, its something that they have to live with for the rest of their lives.
Be interesting to see how many babies get named Shiloh and Suri this year.

I was named after a character in a movie that was popular at the time. No one remembers it now, and it I didn't like having an unusual name at school. After 33 years i've got used to it. However getting people to spell it correctly is a constant, and possibly why i'm trending towards traditional names.
Glow my cousins son was born on Xmas day and their family name is Sante.

I added this to the other name thread a few days ago, but it's funny so I'll put it here too.
I worked with a girl called Jenny Penny Rose Lenny.
I used to go to school with a boy called Oli Oliver.
I just read on another overseas forum of a new baby girl being named Scotlyn. It sounds reasonable enough, but I'm not really sure...
I wanted to name my son Jarvis, after Jarvis Cocker from Pulp, but nobody liked it. :(

Aww, Jarvis is such a cute name and Jarvis Cocker is a great singer (recently got his new solo album). Cerys is a gorgeous name too! Reminds me of Catherine Zeta Jones' daughter Carys which is also nice.
I daren't even mention the name Morrissey, cause DP hates my obsession with The Smiths and other depressing 80's bands.

Oh yeah and my bestie from school's name is Carlamia, and she has a sister called Keone (Key oh knee). Carlamia's floks came up with her name watching an old horror movie where the vampire lady's name was Miacarla, they just swapped it round. I think it is a really pretty name, but people ALWAYS mispronounce it, or ask how to say/spell. The most common one she gets is Caramia. She just goes by Mia now, lol!

sup y'all its kelly (aka caitlynsmygirl) logged onto my mums username etc...
>>Prints?!?!?! I heard that you're not allowed to use certain titles for first names, perhaps "Prints" should have been a "Prince"? Still strange! >>
ahhh i should explain, when i was pregnant with caitlyn i was at bethany, a salvation army run home for young, or single mums and most of the time i , at 20,was the oldest,(youngest 15 going on 10) except for one time when there was a 30 year old WEIRD lady who told me one night that her baby was called Prints Eric, at first i thought she said Prince and had named after the prince from the little mermaid lol but no, she went on to say she was walking a long the beach and saw her footprints in the sand so called him prints....doesnt make much sense to me either.
There was also a Destinee Misteek (couldnt even bl**dy spell the words right!)
and i kid you not, my aunts knows a lady who knows a lady who just had a baby and they allowed the older kids to name it,(and yes , its got past all the laws etc SOMEHOW!!!) ...welcome to the world (wait for it).......
Furious Porky .....
