hi jacksons mummy, i'm a nelson mum and am always pleased to meet another one. i have a 16 months old son and am in the process of looking for a house closer to town (i am currently in upper moutere).
i fully understand what you mean when you say it feels like you have no life other than your kids, i've been feeling that way recently as well, that's why i think this move will be a really positive thing for me as i can get more involved in things when i'm closer to town.
welcome to ohbaby!
hey rachel, we've nearly got enough nelson people on here now for a little nelson meet up lol

yep I would come over for sure. Was gonna come over this past week for a play with Joey at the Tahuna beach park, but never made it, got very busy doing stuff. Am coming over on next sunday for the wedding expo, but that will be a busy day for me, and will be minus (hopefully) Mr nearly 2. I don't mind the drive, and both my kids are great little travellers (so far, fingers crossed!)

I just realised wednesday is Anzac day. Should we maybe try FRIDAY so there is lots of time to organise Ella to nelson etc.?
Also where should we have it, I would invite you here but it's not my house. Would anyone want it at their house? Otherwise if it's good weather we could meet at a park or if you guys know a cafe or something??

Hi Nelson and Blenheim Mums
Hope you don't mind me jumping on to your thread!
We live in the central Nelson area, and my little girl is 1.5 years old.
If you wouldn't mind then I would love to meet some new people and make some new friends for my little one
Our usual child friendly places to visit are the Suter art gallery cafe (toys for the children to play with and nice staff) and then we wander around Queens Gardens and visit the ducks!
Natureland zoo and Tahuna park.
Yaza cafe (toys for the children and couch seating down the back)
Lone Star (lovely patient staff, and colouring in stuff provided)
The park at the bottom of the start of the centre of NZ walk.
And of course Chipmunks soft play centre.
Would love to hear any suggestions for other places to visit!
We may have even met some of you or seen you around Nelson, it does seem to be quite a small place here and it seems like we do meet the same people out and about at different places.
Anyway, nice to 'meet you' and would love to join you at your meet up if that is ok with all of you. Bye for now

I forgot to put Founders heritage park on the list above for cool kiddy things to do. It is free entry if you tell the ticketing person that you are going in to use the cafe, I then grab a coffee and wander around while my girl chases the poor ducks!

wow you have some great places you go- i hadnt thought of most of those or ever been to them with my girls.
we are having a get together on friday still waiting to decide a place but i'd be keen to take a look at one of your sugeestions hope you can make it too
my name is rachel and i have 3 girls aged from 8 months to 4.5 years- will be really nice to meet another mum, i havent met any of the other nelson mums from here yet so looking forward to friday.

hi sparkles, great to see another nelson mum here. i'm ella and i have a 17 month old son. i've found another good place to meet is Kafiene, it's a great little cafe on new st (just up from the cinema), it has indoor and outdoor seating and is fully enclosed so the kids can run around without you having to get up all the time to field them away from the road.

YAY! Of course you can join us sparkles!!
Oh no, now we have too many places to choose from
I vote for the founders option (especially if free entry!) Cafe plus lots of room to run around? A cafe somewhere might be difficult with all of us and the kids? I know Joey wo't sit still for more than oh about 1 minute

Hello Ella, Rachel and Newmum Hope you are all having good days so far! Thanks for the 'hellos'
Ella, I was going to put Kafiene on my list of things to do but couldn't remember the name, and they don't advertise or have a sign out the front do they? I have been there twice in the last two weeks as my friend told me about it, great food and you are so right about it being a good place for the kiddies to run around. How cool that our wee ones are so close in age, mine is 18 months.
Upper Moutere is such a beautiful place, I love it out there.
Rachel, gosh you must be a busy Mum! I know how busy one keeps me! Richmond is lovely, we go there sometimes to shop and also El Taverna is great for dining as they have the children's play room there. You will certainly be busy with Kayla crawling now. My friend has a 7 month old called Kayla who has just started crawling too!
Newmum, your Joey sounds just like mine, very busy! I am sure that they will be chasing each other round when they meet. At least Founders is a cool place for them to wear themselves out, and also has a play-ground, if you all do want to go there? I'll put in a vote for Founders too anyway.
Hope you all have an awesome day today.

OK so sounds like it's founders then? OK with you Ella??
Shall we meet outside the front gate/house/windmill thing at 10am then we will all find each other and can go in together? (Gosh I'm bossy... Typical Aries, hehehehe)

so, recapping details:

Hi all
Firstly, sorry I don't drive Ella, or I would come and pick you up!
Have you heard about www.nakedbus.com, they do dollar fares to and from Motueka. But if you have a busy little kid like mine I don't know if you would want to spend that long on a bus
Fattartsrock (love the name!) would be great to meet you and Ana if you can make it over to Nelson, we could arrange something on a day and time to suit you?
Rachel, if you ever fancy doing something that would be really cool, even if you feel like meeting up in Nelson central, or Richmond. You are always welcome to come over for a tea or coffee if you would like to. As are all the Mums and kids on this thread!
I might go to Chipmunks on Friday morning if anyone wants to come along.
Also if you feel like coming along to Founders sometime next week, probably towards end of next week, that would be awesome.
Hope everyone has a nice relaxing evening!

I am so so so sorry ladies for not posting back here earlier- my little one hasn't been well either.
Ella, I wonder if she and Mikey have the same thing, fluey bug. My girl was off colour at the start of the week but I had thought she would be better by Friday.
I haven't taken her anywhere apart from the supermarket and the naturopath this week as I thought she might pass it on to other children so she has had a verrrry boring week!
Again, my apologies, I don't think I am going to be getting a job as an event planner anytime soon!
Rachel I feel really terrible as I imagine you might have gone to Chimpmunks and wondered if I was there, I hope you didn't go and then ask random strangers if they were 'sparkles'! I will send you a PM in a minute xx
Hope to eventually meet you all soon anyway

thanks sparkle, i hope your little girl gets better soon. mikey's been quite sick which is strange because he usually never gets anything other than the occasional cold.
he's been throwing up (but only at night) and has been really snotty and grizzly, he was also rubbing his head heaps so i assume he has a headache, poor wee thing. what makes it even more fun is that our washing machine has suddenly packed it in so i can't even wash all the spewy clothes and sheets (sorry if tmi).
rachel, hope you didn't go to chipmunks and have a stink time because no-one else was there.

Hey Ella, that sounds similar, apart from the vomiting, the poor little mite.
Is Mikey cutting his eye teeth at the moment as my girl is and she keeps rubbing her head and ears, possibly pain tied in to the eye teeth? Really hope it clears up soon for him, whatever it is.
Rachel, I just typed you a big long PM but you are so popular that your inbox is full already!

sparkles, he is cutting teeth at the moment, 2 at once but i don't think they're the eye teeth, these ones are further towards the back, but mixed in with the bug he's one very unhappy camper.
rachel you're so lucky that your girls haven't had any bugs yet, it seems that ever since the weather's got colder mikey's had one cold after another and now this bug. ah well, hopefully it'll be over soon and he can go back to being a happy wee boy again.
