My son is driving me to the nutt house!!!!! he is usually such a placid happy boy!!! but lately i dont know whether its just me and my pregnancy short wick! or the fact that he has just started daycare but gosh he has turned into a little devil with an attitude!!!! he is always pushing the boundaries...as i type he has just fallen on his face off the couch after being told a trillion times by his father to stop jumping on the couch!!!...and now he has just walked past my room and told ME to go away!?...anyway he has always had a firey temper like me but now he is constantly answering back and not listening and snapping at us and it doesnt help that he is soooooooooo stubborn!! (..yup thanks to me too ).
AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! is anyone else going to the nutt house like me!!???...

Maybe talk to his daycare teachers - get some feedback on who he's playing with, what he's like during "mat-time" and I guess how they think he's settling in. Is he interacting well with the other children during free play?
You may also want to think about putting him to bed earlier as he's now a very busy boy and may need a few more hours sleep. My daughter is at pre-school and goes to bed at 7 and wakes up at 7.00 and some days that's not enough, especially if she's been really active.. If that doesn't work? I would say he has learnt a thing or 2 from the older chidlren at the daycare. I noticed that when Andrew moved from the nursery to the preschool he learnt new words and new phrases that weren't said at home. I spoke with one of the teachers that I know quite well and she said that there are a few 4 year olds that love to say things they know they aren't meant to around the "babies" of the preschool. We tell Andrew not to listen to them and that they are naughty for saying those things. One of the other teachers told us that after we said that him she heard him saying it to one of the four year olds and the 4 year old didn't know what to do as she had never had a "baby" tell her what to do. And as Andrew is a tall boy she was a little indimidated by Andrew and has learnt her lesson on speaking. I also watch Andrew when I pick him up how he is at mat time to see if that is anything to go by, but he is usually very good but watching other children that are misbehaving. Def talk to the teachers, also if he has a primary carer speak with her (asuming its a "her ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I'm with Bex on this one - Arna started coming home with real bad back chatting, attitude and thinking that she's the "Boss"
After talking to one of the carers that Arna gets on with real well I found out that one of the older boys does what Arna was doing alot so I told Arna that he was naughty and that she was naughty for copying those things and she stopped!! (unless shes REAL REAL tired) I also asked Donna (the carer) if she could keep and eye on it and explain to Arna if she did it why it is better not to. Hope this helps and if you nip it in the bud now it makes life easier in the long run

yup! he has picked up some terrible things from daycare!!!! my nephew also goes to the same one and my sis spews over the same issues!!! one of those BIG issues is that Bay and Oakley (nephew) have been getting bullied by a 4yr old who is the size of a 7 yr old!!!!!. Bay loved to go in the early weeks but lately he has been very scared and telling me that R**** is pushing him over and hitting him and this is the same kid that my sister has complained about for picking on Oaks!! i wasnt able to see anyone yesterday and Bay isnt going tommorow (we are going to Tauranga to visit friends for the day ) but on his next day there i will be making a big complaint because obviously this boy has not learnt his lesson and i know that there is always a bully in every school BUT when my happy go lucky child is to scared to go to school!! then i draw the line because this boy has already had several complaints according to my sis!!...next step - to take the bully out of there!!!!..it has happened with a few other kids who havnt toned down so why not this one!
OK rant over!!!! ypu that probably is why he is a toad! but my god!! im going nutts!!!!

I'm glad Andrew is on the taller side and he towers over some of the 4 years olds (and even some 6 years olds at my mums school). Amber get tough with the child that is the bully. We had one when Andrew was in th nursery this child would bite Andrew every day without fail. This child that was biting had good language so could use his words but never did. His parents thought it was cute he was biting (WTF CUTE), until I went in there and asked them how they would feel having to pick your child up and every day have to deal with bite marks and a sad child. They soon got the hint and I told them that the licencee (we know her quite well) would get involved (she doesn't deal with little things like this until they get out of hand) fi the child was taught right from wrong. Took a few days (have to give it a chance) and he stopped biting. Make sure you stand your ground and make sure it is dealt with. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Yeah i will certainly go down hard on the parents of this bully because i may be inclined to let up a bit if it was a one off but this bully has been picking on Oakley (my nephew) for over a year and also picks on other kids and obviously the complaints arnt doing much to change this childs behaviour!! the daycare is always putting this boy on the naughty mat and the parents have been spoken to about the other complaints but still he is the same!! so at the risk of sounding a bit harsh! - if he isnt going to buck up his ideas then he needs to go!!! he is way bigger than my 4yr old nephew littlelone my son!!! so its just not acceptable.

| as the parent of a child who DOES push and hit, I LIKE it when parents tell me Jake has misbehavedc (well, i don't but bare with me), so I can explain to jake that what he is doing is wrong. one of the newer mums at playcentre told me last week that two weeks ago Jake had smacked her child in the face....well, a bit late for me to discipline him now! if the parents are responsible telling them would be appreciated I think (i hope!( |

But I've heard 3 is a terribly delightful age... I've heard it was the parent of a 3 year old that made up the whole "terrible twos" things as a sick joke. |
