Can anyone recommend a good twin buggy?, for a newborn and an 18mth old?
I liked the look of the Phil and Teds because they were narrow but then I heard that the front seat can only recline slighty so its unlikely my older bubba will sleep unless its practically flat and he only sleeps during the day in his pram!!! SOOO i was thinking of the Mountain buggy twin type, as they recline fully? What would you guys recommend?

I would recommend shooting yourself now - it will save you a lot of frustration 
Seriously tho, knowing what I know now about twin buggies if I had an older bub and a newborn I would definitely go for a front and back one like the Phil and Teds. I have a Babylove Duolite Perri ( http://www.babylove.com.au/Productdetail.asp?RecordTotal=6&RecordID=3&categoryid=1&subcategoryid=3&productid=122 - http://www.babylove.com.au/Productdetail.asp?RecordTotal=6&RecordID=3&categoryid=1&subcategoryid=3&productid=122 ) and it is 'supposedly' narrow enough to fit thru doorways, which is the biggest sales pitch lie ever coz it doesn't. It fits thru 'external' doors, if you're lucky. The Mountain Buggy twin is the same size. That said, it does depend what you are going to use it for. If it's for walking etc. then go for it, I love mine coz it is light, comfy for the girls, and copes with any terrain. But if it's for shopping, visiting etc. then it's a bad idea coz you will spend more time getting the kids in and out of it when it doesn't fit inside places. I have a Childcare Lunar twin umbrella stroller that lives in my car for shopping, the Baby Love rarely goes in the car unless I am meeting Toni to go walking
Another idea if you're keen on the Phil and Teds but worry about #1 not being old enough to be sitting up all the time you could always use a sling/baby carrier for bubs and put #1 in the stroller, then add the toddler seat later on when bubs is a bit bigger and #1 is older and awake most of the time in the stroller. If I ever have another baby it will live in the sling. I love mine. It's just a bugger that I can't put both gremlins in it at the same time (and yes, I have tried  )

I have found twin buggies frustrating too, they are either too big or too heavy etc argghghh! lol. But I would be surprised if your little man would still sleep in the pram when he is 18mos old? I have a Triton Trekker (which are hard to get hold of nowadays), it is far too heavy to take up town all the time, really just for walking around home. The baby part doesn't completely recline, it's up on a small angle, but my babies have never had a problem with it. If I had to go shopping all over again I would seriously consider the Phil & Teds. ------------- |

| i have an older IGC - it is not a side by side. the back reclines completely flat and makes into a bassinet type thing and the front reclines slightly. i found tho that gabriel could still sleep in it if he wanted but he generally didnt. (he was 18mths old too). the front has a removeable tray and sunshade and a great under basket. i got mine from trade me. i found i didnt need the double buggy for too long so you might be better off getting a second hand one. or considering a sling for baby and sticking with the single. |

where do you find the tandem buggies?
I have seen some on trade me but always seem to lose on them. my girls 19months and still sleeps in her pram, everytime we go out walking she falls asleep. she falls asleep anywhere these days if shes tired. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

We have the Phil & Ted, and love it! There are 18 months between our boys, and Josiah doesn't fall asleep in the buggy very often anymore, but the few times he has he's been fine! My SIL has one as well, with a similar age gap, and she said that once the baby was old enough, she used to lie Sam (oldest child) down in the flat part and put Josh (younger child) in the toddler seat in front. She said that it looked a little strange, with Sam's legs sticking out from under Josh, but he would sleep fine. ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

some have them some don't our baby city ordered it in for me and we are just paying a small amount off a week as they don't have a time limit as long as money is going on and by the time bubs is born we will have it cost us $800 -------------

To have it in the two toddlers configeration (buggy seat upright, toddler seat underneath) the baby has to be about 4 months old. However, you can have the buggy seat flat and the toddler seat on top (rather than underneath) for a newborn/toddler. All the 2 bubs set up is is a normal phil n teds with a toddler seat added so if your shop only has the single they can order from phil n teds the toddler attachment set and it's all go.
with sticking bubba in the toddler seat at the back, i do think they say about 4 months but you have to remember that they fall asleep pretty quick in the buggy still at that stage and it';s definately not recommended that they sleep in that position cos they are so upright they still risk damage to neck and cutting off airways etc. I did try a few times with Ayja but was never happy with how she was sitting etc, she just looked far too small to be in that position. ------------- Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

I have the older style P and T and baby goes in the back, toddler in the front and I love it! Both seats are quite reclined and can't be adjusted, but they are fine and happy in there

I had a double moutan buggy cause Alan was the same he still slept in his buggy even at 18 month's old it was great, but did not last them long casue Alan got too big for it I got it second hand and used it for about 6 month's would have been gutted if I had got it new. I like the P&T in theory I jsut worry that newborn is very low to teh ground scared I will kik bub's in the head while walking. I also have a valco with todder seat which I hate it only has 3 weel's and is so hard to push. So I am in hte moddle of getting a Padiagree far too heavy to put in and out ofhte car, but much better for walking. Sorry that is prob not much help.
