NZ is a small world I'm sure if we all started asking questions it would be less than six degrees of seperation.

I was just reading the intro thread and thought there were heaps of West Aucklanders out there in the ohbaby world.

At the Botony meet up one of the girls lives just around the corner from where I grew up and another coincidence well I just figured out where I had seen twoblondinis partner before ...We were in the same class at high school we are standing next to each other in our 5th form photo which I up loaded on old friends years ago. Well I'm pretty sure it's him anyway...

Yeah, aside from being a westie that survived a West Auckland school, my ohbaby degrees of seperation hit when Jax and I worked out that our husbands work at the same place... (and then there's nothing like giving birth at NSH and having two of the regulars in your Oh Baby due month thread being there at the same time, one of them in the room you got put in).

Jax and I went to high school together but were in different years. I clicked when there was a thread a while back about school uniforms and she talked about the revolting brown woolen skirts - surely no other school would inflict that on their students!

And Two Blondinis, Amy and Clare all live really close to me.

And gandt and I have been friends for years, but that's probably cheating since we knew each other before OHbaby!

LOL Rachel, we're probably related your DH somewhere down the line, my Dad is old school NP stock, his family has lived in Waitara and Stratford for generations. I have cousins around your DH's age that grew up there too that went to Francis Douglas, Sacred Heart and Spotswood College (Dad went to Frankie Doug too). And my uncle built Shifty's sports bar out at Bell Block. And my Dad's uncle Tom McDonald is the McDonald behind McDonald real estate. Or he used to be, he's since died and I don't know if the family still own the business. But they also own race horses at Stratford, All in Fun was one of theirs.

Don't know if anyone knows me, but I'm 22 and grew up in Hamilton. My mums uncle is Bill Birch, the old finance minister back when Jim Bolger was the PM. My mums boyfriend was a policeman in New Plymouth for 20 odd years, my dad owned a decorating business in Hamilton called Double L Decorators. I probably have relatives somewhere on here as my mums parents both had 10 brothers and sisters each so seconds cousins everywhere!

And my partner has an unusual last name. His grandfather was on TV on anzac day as a war veteran. He was part of a secret air service that parachuted into Borneo and trained headhunters in Guerilla Warfare.

My nana lives in Kawerau! And my aunt and uncle do too. Their kids have grown up in and around the BOP. They are the Adams. Hayley, Jade, Courtney and the eldest was Sarah Adams who was killed in a car accident in 2000. I think some of them went to Edgecumbe College, Whakatane College and lived everywhere around there!

Yes it was Green Bay High. I can't really remember much gossip far too many years ago but think he may have gone out with an old friend (another Sharron) Did he live in Glen Eden on the road with Don Olivers on it?

In the photo I'm at the back with the bad perm. (It was the eighties so it's not my fault) And I guess you will recognise the guy beside me.

I also went to Piopio College for a little while. And mum2emj - before moving to Hamilton I worked for a solicitor in Eltham. McDonald Real Estate is now run by Peter McDonald (I think that's his name) who owns a farm out the back of Stratford, with a big sign "Old McDonalds Farm" and a VERY flash house. My nana lives down Porritt Street, we spent Christmas with her. OMG you knew my cousins! It was sooo horrible when Sarah died, as we have such a close family and none of us had really had anyone die in the family so it was a huge huge shock. She would be 24 now.

Hayley has a 1 year old daughter and is pregnant with twins due in November or December!!!

Jade has a two year old boy and is pregnant and due in December!!

Such a small world!

Hayley was in my tutor group (different age though) i had heard that they ended up having kids the same time (they are twins ay or was that just a running joke seen as they looked nothing alike???????) if its true then that explains the twins!! that Hayley is pregnant with.
If i can recall right i think hayley bowled out of school for a while after their sis died

Will definitely have to catch up with you next time I'm over that way.

They are really twins, and yeah they look absolutely nothing alike. They are both quite tall but that's about it. One is naturally blonde and the other is naturally brunette and totally different faces. Jade has moved over to Aus for a few years, her and her partner have been together for years, but Hayley hasn't had much luck, she doesn't know who the father of her daughter is and the new partner doesn't treat her daughter very well at all. We're a bit worried about her, but she seems to cope alright.

I don't see them as often as I should, but I saw them at Christmas and Hayley and the younger sister Courtney came over for my baby shower which was nice.

Peter is Tom's son, my Dad's first cousin. And yep, I know the farm and the house. I remember going out there a few years back, there used to be a sign out front that said McDonald and sons, and Dad commented that the "and sons" were out mowing the (substantial) front lawn with a good old lawnmower

Tom and his wife Tookie owned a really nice house in town too but I think it was sold after they both passed within a few months of each other in 2001. I hardly keep in touch with them anymore, usually only when they come up to Auckland. Last time would have been Jan 06 at my aunty's 60th, altho Dad talks to Peter a lot as they have half shares in a racehorse.

and keeping with the NP thing, my grandparents live in waitara, so i spent alot of my time there when i was little. my grandad ran alot of the dairy factories at different times around NP years and years ago.. so they lived in all the small towns around that way at some point.

My dad was in the army, so we lived in papakura army camp till i was 3 and a half.. anyone elses dad in the army around there.. before then it was waiouru. I think alot of people remember my dad once they find out.. probably for the wrong reasons.

Naw, I knew Deb's DH before Mel. We worked together at PnS when I was 17
I also was introduced to Deb shortly (after she'd had Alan) on the side of the street by her DH (but she couldn't remember)!
Carmel's DH and my Hubby are friends, they met through a shop Eddie owned in town and played online games as a team (with others) for a couple of years. I met Carmel for the first time when she was pregnant with Piper
I know baalamb's DH, he was in the same circle of friends as me when we were 14.
And I think that is all the people I know!

I was born in Opunake but moved to NP when I was 3, grew up in BBK till I was 17 then moved to town. I went to NPGHS and have worked in several places. My Hubby is a coastal boy.
I often say that I know way tooooo many people in this town for my own liking. I have only ever had 2 people introduce themselves without me knowing who they were from my past. 1 I recalled immediately and the other I still can't even remember!

funny how things happen though. When i met mike through being set up with him by my sister. he had been living around the corner from me for around 6 mths.. and every day i had heard him coming home from work in his subbed-out noisy little pocket-rocket honda..   after talking we found that his best mate went to both primary and intermediate with us.. (Deboarh do you remember anyone called Patrick from primary.. i think he's the same age as you ) also in 6th form patrick went out with my best mate amy.. i never got to meet him at that point. and all mikes aunts and uncles went to high school with my sisters, we also were born 1 day apart.. however i was the only one of us kids that wasn't born in palmy hospital..a couple of my workmates who have been there for a looong time lol cared for mike when he was a baby in the neonatal unit. lolol   it's funny how everyone connects up.

Haha, it is ironic, I can remember what a conversation involved 2 years or so ago and can barely remember to ring people back when they ask me... information overload I call it!

We moved to Invervegas in 1985 when I was 10, I went to surry park primary, then Lithgow intermediate then Southland Girls High School. I worked at kaye Kake Kitchen , then went ahirdressing for a while, got sick of that and worked in a coupke of dairies while doing Bachelor of nursing, before moving to Blen in 1998...
My Dad's sister is a headmaster at a school in Nelson (can't remeber which one?) she has been at a few and her and her husband have Blackbyre Gardens out in appleby, her and her daughter are heavily involved in marching.

Right, just been reading back through this thread and thought I'd better play.

I was born and raised in Rotorua, went to Ngongotaha Primary school from 1989-1995, Kaitao Intermediate from 1996-1997, and Western Heights High School from 1998-2002

2003-2004 I was down at Otago Uni and lived in Cumberland Hall in my first year, then lived on the corner of Dundas and Castle Sts in a scungy student flat. Then moved out to Evansdale with my friend Waka. I also worked at the Captain Cook in 2004... I blame that place for me getting preggo

2005 I moved to Wellington and lived in Everton Hall and am still here now, studying at Vic. Han attends the uni creche at Vic.

Ella - wondering if you knew some of my friends from school... Claire Keeling, Amanda Bishop, and Rosie Turner? I was in the hostel with them in 1st year at uni. I love them to bits.
