Hi all.

Well, I know that there are plenty of places out there, but I'm looking for something smart enough to wear to work as well as round home things (not that its particularly smart and professional here), at a decent price (I'm not interested in paying more than $50 per item if at all possible) and in Christchurch/mail order.

Any recommendations? The first thing on the list is pants... starting to feel things getting tighter

thanks, becs.

At K-mart the only thing that I liked in their maternity section was a black pair of dress pants. They were just plain black, very comfy and definately good enough for work.

Not sure if I'm allowed to say this but I will.
I own a 2nd hand and new maternity wear shop in christchurch. Nothing over $60. Address is: 93 Westminster St, Christchurch.
Open: wed, thur, fri 3 - 7pm and sat 9-1.

I so know that feeling. I only have a limited number of bottoms that fit me at the moment.

Mods: feel free to remove this if not allowed!

PP and JKs have shops at dressmart. I got my pants for work from EGG on blighs Rd but they were more expensive...worth it as I wear them everyday and they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO comfy I cant imagine ever wearing normal ones again.

also you can buy a "belly belt" kit that lets you extend the waist of current pants. you clip it in to the button and then the hole. I got one from Baby City. but I didnt use it much as I wanted to feel as comfy and look as good as i could.

also check out Glassons and Ezibuy. The elastic waists are sometimes all you need with a long top.

I got the black pants form K mart that Stacy mentioned - I think they were $30-35, and are so comfy for work. I also got some from pumpkin patch on sale for about $40-50 so keep an eye out there.

I got the belly belt but never wore it - my ar$e got too big for all my normal pants, hahaha

For casual clothes Ezibuy's yoga pants are great. They are very stretchy and extremely comfy - I'm living in these now that I'm not at work! lol

I've been buying alot of my tops from The Warehoue - the Maya range have some really dressy/smart/casual tops for around $17.
I also got a couple from Kmart and Postie Plus. My best buy were my Mummy's Tummy jeans that I got from Trade Me. Sooo comfy.

thanks so much everyone for all those tips

I'm definitely going to go for the long singlets and such like - keen to keep my midriff warm this winter. I seem to have plenty of long sleeved tops that are short in the body!!

I'll give EGG and Kmart a go for black pants too.

And hopefully I'll pay you a visit too Peanut!

If anyone is in Christchurch and after togs and doesn't mind spending about $120 (I hadn't planned on spending this much but they fit really well and had a few options) then go to Starfish Swimwear on Colombo St, near South City and Smiths City. Highly recommend the lady, she is mega helpful and makes the swimwear there.

I got a heap of tops on the weekend, from the good old warehouse. Fine for work, and will look good with jeans or dressed up.

I need to try and find maternity togs in auckland - but with the added challenge of being plus size to start with!!

Glassons Glassons Glassons

I cant say enough how good thier clothes are. They have ehaps of long tops which are stretchy and they have black pants with elastic waist! fab for preggy belly.
I just got some jeans from there which are a ton better than any preggie jeans i have tried! (and im almost 7 months)

Glassons is fine if you fit their clothes in the first place. I am a size 16 and went clothes shopping for first time this weekend since getting pregnant. Glassons go up to a 16, but not much will fit soon...

I found that P Patch and JKs have a range of maternity wear, but I already fit the XL now and so am assuming I won't in the months to come. Is there somewhere that does maternity wear for the slightly bigger person?

Trade me is good to get some good bargins and they always have a range of different sizes of stuff on there. And if it doesn't fit you can always resell it.

sorry - not sure! i have found the p patch clothes very generous. Maybe try Egg. Their sizing is generous also.
Good luck!

I didnt think that the Egg sizing was very generous....I have been struggling to find 'bottoms' that will fit me. Tops dont seem too hard to find, but finding a comfy pair of pants or a nice skirt seems to be torture! I find that normal PP stuff in XL is a wee bit snug, but the One From the Heart range seems to be a better fit.

At the moment on TM there is a lady selling Plus Size maternity clothes - they seem nice, but a bit on the expensive side for me.

As I just had pointed out to me by PM I gave the wrong address for my shop! Its actually 93 Westminster St, have changed in the above post as well as posting here. Sorry for anyone that got confused! I don't know what I was thinking!!!

Also I have quite good large sizes as import alot from Australia as find they fit well and are really cheap. new stock will be arriving in and should be out on display on the 23rd of May.
