I am wondering is it really necessary to actually go out and buy special tops just for breastfeeding or is it possible to go ti without a whole new wardrobe?
What have other people done and/or found helpful? Just wondering if its really necessary? |

| I dont know from expereince but I have heard if you buy some of those belly band things (like a boob tube) they cover your midrif during pregnancy and then you can wear them under a tshirt for breastfeeding...when you lift the shirt up, your tummy is covered....I think that is nifty. |

I personally think its a bit of a waste of money. After the first few times "in public" you tend not to worry too much...well I didn't anyhow. I also find putting a blanket over her as if she was cold, just draping it, hides any "flash" of the booby and tummy kind! ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

I bought one nursing top when I was in the States a couple of months ago. It's stretchy so a good maternity top but has side openings for feeding while keeping things covered. I also bought a long sleeved T that buttons down the front for easy feeding.
I haven't noticed any maternity tops that enable breast feeding here though. |

There are a few companies that make them here, they advertise in the back of Little Treasures, Littlies etc.
I just used my JK Maternity singlets under normal tops - they were long so covered my belly, but I could pull them down at the front for easy access while the top over it covered the top of my boobs. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I did want some, but could never find any I liked for a resonable price, so never used them. I just used a blanket, but now I dont bother, not that I feed in public that much really, Isla is far too nosy and wont feed

I haven't even tried a feeding top because they are so expensive! And I don't want one with built-in bra because I'm so tiny in that department. I find an easy fitting t-shirt is the way to go most of the time. It needs to have a bit of give so you can pick it all up without baring your back (IMO). Blankets are ok except if you have a summer baby (too hot). I got myself some belly bands this time and I really like having them - especially outside of summer.
Your 6m preggy tops will probably fit you good for the first couple of months and then you'll be able to go out and see what you're comfortable with. ------------- |

I found the nursing singlets from the underwear department in Farmers awesome they costs about $20-30 and you can wear them under anything and they cover your belly and back and mean you don't have to flash anyone and add an extra layer of warmth for winter.
I did buy a top from mummy matters but found it quite hard to use when wearing a maternity bra,alhtough it did look nice one, the singlets were heaps easier. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| My mum brought me a feeding top from farmers. It was in their sale racks for like $15 which was a pretty good score. The thing I like about them is that they have tons of support for bigger busted ladies like myself. I don't even need to wear a bra with one and I've never found a top that has that kind of support. I'm always on the look out whenever I'm in farmers to see if they put more in the sale racks! |

Yes I do. I have 2 from Farmers. 1 I wore while pregnant and now I wish I had worn the other one as well as the one I wore while pregnant is nice a stretched and comfy to wear. The brand (I can't remember at the moment sorry) has a range of tops from singlets to long sleeve tops. They are in the underwear section of Farmers. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

I've got quiet a few breastfeeding tops and found them great, I also started wearing them again when I was trying to relactate and they were great then also!

I love mine, I got them from mummy maternity, and jsut purchased what they had on special so were around $25 to 30 each which wasn't bad I thought. I acutally wish I had bought more! ------------- ">

They are "Nurture" I have one I got when I had jaek, I found them a bit useless, as the booby holes were too close together, and I have a "canyon" between my babies, and they ain't that big... ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

I just got some from farmers today. They are still on special and seem like very good value for money.The brand is "Fresh Mums". I don't have the "Nuture" brand I have the "fresh mum's" ones and they are great. I got one on sale for $28 and the other my mum got for me. Hey there I bought some off trademe for really good prices and i love them. I do have a few here that I don't wear cos they are smaller than I thought (either that or I'm bigger in the boobs than I thought I was), if your interested in them, let me know and we can sort something out - even if you just wanna try them out and see how u go.
