Alyssa just had her first sitting at pixie foto and I'm not holding out too much hope of getting very good pics.. She didn't like the photographer much, was tired after waiting around for over half an hour, didn't smile even once, and in the end they had to cut the session short cause she was starting to cry. I guess we'll see in 2 weeks if we get something nice to look at :)

If you don't like them then you can ask for a resit and a different photographer. We did this with our 18 month ones. The photographer was usless and our "free" picture, Andrew was not centre and half out of the actually picture.

Make an Appointment. Most places say they run to "baby time" meaning they book an appointment every 10 minutes but are usually running late so get an early morning one f you can.

Yeah we had to make an appointment and I wish I had booked a morning one as I'm sure they wouldn't have been so far behind like mummy_becks suggested..

It's so much hard work to get professional shots done, as lovely as some of them are! First the baby is tired, then hungry, then doesn't like the photographer, and it's all in a rush so no wonder they feel unsettled. Haven't taken Kryssi in yet, I like to get them to do family ones but then organising DH's schedule as well as ours can be awkward sometimes.

Well, I went and checked out the photos today and although she looks very sad in all of them (due to lack of smiling), I purchased a couple anyway. Geez they are sooo expensive for what they are!! I'll have to scan them later and post them up.. The largest one which was the free one was usually about $95, and then the next size down has 4 wallet sized ones attached and that is $70 for the sheet or $40 for half (either the one bigger one or 4 small ones)... Ugh..

Anyway, what I wanted to mention is that I was looking at the form that the photographer had filled out originally and under comments she wrote "unstable child"

um WTF how long were you there and on what qualifications do they have to make that comment.

I am sorry but that just rubs me the wrong way.

I do look forward to seeing the photo's, lets pass comment on what type of photograper.....

I would complain about that. With Andrew's 18 month ones I complained about the photographer she was usless. I later found out I wasn't the only one to complain and she got fired. The photos of the children were terrible Half of Andrew was missing and he wasn't the only one that happened to.

she didn't mean it as alyssa couldn't sit up kind of unstable did she?

I still haven't got PixiFotos since Krystiana was born, we've been either sick or busy (or disabled lol). I'm still umming and ahhing about it, the kids so often get "stranger-fright" and it's a huge mental exercise all for one photo.

Haha, nope. I'm pretty sure it had more to do with the fact that Alyssa didn't seem to like the photographer and cried when she tried to force Alyssa into positions she didn't want to be in. She was fine when I did it though..she just doesn't like strangers much :)

Oh my GOODNESS, pepsi, I would definitely complain about that. I mean it. That is WRONG.

I took Emma Rose to Portrait Place (just like Pixifoto, apparently) two weeks ago, and it was a disaster. When we first went into the studio, there were three people behind the counter, and one of them was sorting photos. She said to another employee, "Do you want to do this shoot?" and she said, "Not really," so the first one said, "I guess I'll do it, then." Way to make us feel welcome!

The photographer kept putting these grotty props next to Em (a fake flower, a teddy) that of course she just wanted to eat, or touch, or toss off the table, or hand to me. I kept telling the photographer I didn't mind if the shots were "candid-looking" instead of so formally posed, but she didn't listen and got really impatient by the end of the session, plonking the props down and telling Em, sternly, to leave them there. Em then lost the plot and started wailing. Joy!

I couldn't get a price list from them so I could go home and prepare myself for what we'd want to buy, and the whole "choose the free photo before you see it" thing is just a rip-off. I couldn't even REMEMBER what the poses looked like. Finally I just told the photographer to pick whatever. It can't be worse than whatever random pose I chose!

We go back on Sunday to look at them, and then I face the hard sell -- they were trying to talk me into reserving a $900 package before I could even SEE what was in it. So my first experience with them hasn't been good. We'll see how the photos turn out...

I would complain as well. That is disgusting!

Honestly I have never heard anything good about Pixie Foto....confirms why I won't go near them!

Lucky one of the guys at B's work is a professional photographer and he's gifted us a photo shoot and pics and another friend is a hot photographer as well...I'll definetly be sticking with them!

I don't really like pixi foto and wouldn't go there even to get a free photo. Definately won't go there now after your unstable child comment Pepsi. Thats totally not on.

I did photography at school and do lots as a hobby so just take my own portraits of our boys. I have done some for friends too and I really enjoy it and always get the shots that I want.

We have some great Pixifotos of Maya at 7 mths, haven't had the gremlins done coz they're not the easiest subjects to work with and I don't like the way you can't see how they turn out before you commit yourself.

Gandt's hubby is going to do some of the girls for us, he is brilliant and did some pics for my parents 25th anniversary which Dad reckons are the best ones we've ever had done, and best of all he just gives me a CD of images or the negatives and I can pick my own prints and get them done wherever I like.

That is if he stops being an arse

Hey you know what is strange to me, is that Pixiefoto has been around for all these years ripping us off and making lots of money, yet they haven't even moved onto digital photography! It would be soooo much better as it would allow us to see the photos there and then and not have to go back 2 weeks later after the film has been developed in Australia only to be disappointed with the results! Hellooooooo get with it!

I got Jake's one done when he 4 weeks old. our girl was pretty good. Jake's photo wasn't particulary good, but it wasn't the one we'd chosen. when i saked why, she replied that when she printed it out, he looked really werid, and since we had asked for her recomendation she didn't want to pass it on, so printed off another one that she felt was nicer. i was really happy with that.

When we ewre in Japsn we hired a photography student to take pictures of us. she took some formal photos but they were mainly candid and they turned out beautifully. it cost about $300 and she gave us a CD at the end of it with over 300 photos, also had an extra folder with the "top 20" as she called it. i would do the same thing again.

Pixie photos are sh*te.

I hate the cheesy props.

All being said, I did get one done. And bought one pic of Han with fake xmas pressies to give to the grandparents - she was ripping them apart but looked very happy doing so! hehe

Our photographer was pretty good

I will only get them done by one photographer in Palmy as we know her. Hopefully she hasn't left yet to have another baby.

Those are quite some weird stories there of pixiphoto. We've got um..like...9? pixiphotos. They're ok. Thing is you gotta decide that you're not going to pay for anything except the free one. Pretty good photos for free ones if you ask me.

Maybe the picture quality depends on the branch/photgrapher? I dunno...but the Palmy one seems to be good. I'd reccommend them to people...

it also seems weird that when you back they have them all printed out ready - DH wanted to grab the ones we said no to out of the bin including the half sheet one..I mean who else are they of use to..

digital photos would save them heaps and get more customers thru...and you could choose pphtos better..

we had PP do our preggy one and the girl doing it was a kid - no idea how to pose us properly etc...ARGH!

I have never used Pixi photo's we go to portrait place in Palmy how ever the last one we got of Mikey was not so good thank goodeness it was free to be honest.  I think we often take way better ones at home plus like other have said their unrealistic cheesy prop's are so dumb.

I am so hoping my BIL comes now for Christmas. He is a really good photographer that is really good with animals and jets and people. And he took some nice photos of McKayla. Doesnt have experience with taking photos of kids as such but I am sure he will do a better job and at least it wont cost me a fortune.
