I've got period cramps that are getting worse and lower back pain! I also can't get warm!
I haven't had a show and my waters haven't broken, but after feeling nauseas this afternoon and having the runs (sorry TMI) on and off for the past few days I think something is going on down there!
Only noticed the cramping and lower back pain in the last hour or so.

I can't tell! Sometimes they go on for ages, then other times only for about 10 seconds.
I don't know how to time them properly!
My midwife gave me a sheet with things I need to keep in mind when in labour and it says 'If you're not sure whether you're in labour, you're not!'
I'm not sure whether it is or not, maybe I'm just imagining the cramps to be getting worse.
Either it will be nothing or I'll REALLY know about it soon!

with my first started with the runs then cramps in my stomack
with my second started with the runs and cramps in my back so if you ask me you are probally well on the way thay start off like you think maby them a few hours go buy then it is deffinatly getting worse.

If your baby is posterior you will often have a long early labour when you have short contractions then long ones, not in a regular pattern...yet.... sounds like you might have the baby within a couple of days though, how exciting!
Lower back pain sounds like a posterior bub too. Hands and knees often helps turn the baby the right way around. I love showering in the first part of labour - great for on my back - wheat packs are also good. You're getting into the evening now so if you're still having stuff happen, try and get as much rest as possible tonight (I know that's hard when all the excitement is going on, but you could possibly have this all night long).

get in and have a nice long shower or bath.. or go for a rest. If it's labour.. they will keep coming no matter, what. if it's just cos you've been doing far too much, they should calm down once you do.
good luck

I haven't been doing very much today, just went to the Waikato meet-up, but spent all of that sitting down, and the cramps really only started when I lay down for a rest this afternoon.
I saw my midwife on wednesday and he's definitely anterior, and it doesn't feel like he's changed position, although I could be wrong. The cramps are mostly at the front, just a dull pain in the back. (will definitely try all the turning things though)
I would still like him to bake for another week or two, but if it happens, then it happens.
Will keep you all posted throughout the night anyway.

Renee, OMG, how exciting but come on now! I was the one who was supposed to go first & you guys are popping them out left right and centre!
Hows it all going now, are the cramps getting stronger or just staying the same and are they getting my frequent?
Over the past few weeks I have had up to 3 hours of BH every 10 mins or so then it just goes away so who knows but hope you've got your bags packed....I haven't!!!!

Of course you also might be one of those lucky people who get this for a few hours and then things stop happening for a few days... then it starts again etc!
So if you are ready for bubs to come, then I hope it is, otherwise I hope it is just warning you that it isn't too far away!

I am still in pain, and they are getting worse in intensity, but I couldn't time them if I tried, they are coming and going so infrequently and sometimes lasting for 10 minutes at a time. On the side, at the back, in the front, but mostly like period pains that are getting worse!
It's been over six hours now. I've had a bath, I've laid down, I've sat up, I've tried everything but they don't seem to be going away at all.

Thank you!
I'm actually hoping they get worse and more regular, cause while at the moment they are rather uncomfortable and are probably strong enough to keep me awake, they aren't what you would call bad pains.
I've got Skyflames cell number so if I do end up at waterford tonight/tomorrow I will let her know so she can let you all know if she's able to.

It really sounds like something is happening try to get some rest or if you can't walk round to get things going. I would ring midwife just to let her know whats happening so she can get some sleep or something. My midwife said to ring back when they were too painful to talk through if this helps at all.
Good luck and hopefully this is it

Well, I've just woken up. Thought things might have progressed further last night but it's still the same!
I slept through all my contractions, and when I woke a few times to go to the toilet I thought they had stopped, so I would lay back down and there they were again! About 7-10 minutes apart, and reasonably sore, but still ok.
So, I'm still here! Still in what I assume is labour, although nothing seems to be happening
Might have to go for a walk to get things to go further.
I don't think it's Braxton Hicks as it's not just tightenings, it's cramps and sore back and all that.
Thanks everyone for your support, I wish I had something more exciting to report!

Well I got hold of my midwife. She seems to think I'm in the 'latent phase' of labour and to just rest, eat, drink and do not much until something else happens.
My mum seems to think that I need to go right up to the hospital right this second, but I'm not going to.
Honestly, the pain I'm in is so pathetic it's not funny. I've had worse period pains. Just not period pains that come very 7 minutes..
Well, I'm off to do something else now, not sure what. Wish it would either stop or get worse!
I'll probably be back later this afternoon or tonight saying 'Nothings happening!!'

Sounds like what my early labour was like so not painful but definately something. I don't know if you would be keen for it but special cuddles followed by a long walk might get things going.
|

Heh.. Special cuddles.
I could be tempted to if it carries on for too long, but I'd have to wake my DP up as he's completely crashed out. Walking sounds like a good plan though.
I could just be imagining it, but the last two/three contractions were ever so slightly stronger..
lol, when I called the pager number for my midwife, I said to the lady 'I think I might be in labour, but I dunno'. She said 'You're pretty damn calm for someone who's in labour'. But then I explained that my mum MADE me call!
Almost 24 hours of labour now!

I think you have the right idea - eat, drink, rest and walk till things progress. from what I hear you don't eant to get to hospital too soon -at least while youa re at home you can distract yourself with things like the computer and other bits and bobs.
Lol - or be like the couple in the video we watched at antenatal, where they were gardening and whenever a contraction came she would stop and do the crazy rocking thing!

Can be disappointing and frustrating though, Krystiana did this to me for a month and then was born on her due date. But that isn't common practise for first babies so hopefully yours will come soon! Did you find out if he's posterior?
-------------
|
Posted By: mamanee

Not sure if he's posterior or not Teresa but I don't think he is. Feels like he's in the same place as he was last week and I'm pretty sure he's engaged, or near enough to. Can they change positions when they are ready to go?
I'm glad I didn't really get too excited and head up to the hospital or anything as the cramps are well and truly over now. I still don't feel the same as before though, I feel like he's doing his thing down there and it won't be too much longer.
Glad I didn't ring the MIL!
Sorry for getting everyone excited! At least I got to go to the supermarket and get the last of my labour things ready, pads and nursing pads etc.
I'll make sure to be in 'actual' labour next time!

Renee, they can change positions (thank goodness for me), but if your Sam is anterior and engaged it is unlikely at this stage that he will. Samantha was posterior when I went into labour but managed to do a complete corkscrew in the birth canal and came out anterior. Clever girl
Like you said, atleast you got to go and get the rest of the things you needed. I ended up having to send DH to get stuff with being early. He was good about it though

Still here! No news or pains or cramps or anything today. Lots of BH though.

I've been around all day, but didn't think to post in here!
