          | Yeah, procrastinating again so I had to come up with an inventive title.
Right, well, some lady drove into my car about two weeks ago after pulling out of a driveway and straight into me (don't blame her, cars parked all along street, you couldn't seen anything!) and I have just found out my car is written off due to being 'uneconomical to repair' which really means 'car is a piece of crap'.

It's being towed away today and I will no longer see it, and the insurance is paying out the amount that I paid for it originally! Yay! (And it has come at a time when my car was starting to fall to bits... needed new tyres, air conditioning had crapped out, central locking was long gone, etc etc)

But now I am on the lookout for a new one and am using public transport until then... which is kinda good as I'd like to do it more. Just call me lazy and disorganised.

That's all. Just procrastinating and I thought I'd tell ya.

          | Get as new as you can with the cash settlement you're getting, that means you'll be debt-free (on the car side at least) but the repairs will hopefully be on the low side at the same time. You can also bargain for a better price if you're a cash buyer.

          | what about going to Turners Auction?   BUT I suggest having someone really good with cars with you. I went to look at one and my mum's partner looked under the hood - the car had been driven with no oil, for quite some time. then looked in the ashtray and found heaps of joint remnants. decided not to buy that car. BUT looked gorgeous on the outside (which is of course the main thing!) |

Please excuse the manic laughter but HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, hadn't really paid off my old car... I'm kinda the laughing stock of the flat/family as far as money and cars goes. I took out a large overdraft to buy the car a couple of years ago with the intention of paying it back at ~$20 a week... never happened.

Anyway, just took out more of an overdraft and I'll "pay it back" as soon as I have "paid off" my boots.

          | I think that'll be a bit out of my very modest price range *couthreethousandgh*. And I'm looking for a smaller car than a wagon (I am parallel parking challenged as it is, which we all know is a major disadvantage in Wellington) - but otherwise would have been a brilliant idea. You could start up a thread on the buy/sell/exchange thread! Ooo I know... I'll exchange you a slightly used 2 year old for your car. Fair deal? |

          | Hey Nikki what about a burgundy Mazda 323 (sedan version)?! My hubby is a mechanic so gets cars cheap when people cant afford to fix them, fixes them himself then sells it on. Its getting a new motor put in it tonight...

          | I'm proud to say I've parallel parked a 12-seater Transit van with a covered trailer attached...
and embarrassed to admit I can hardly parallel park anything else!

          | Geepers Becca. Now that's a major feat!!!
Yeah, I have my good days and bad. Some days I'm sure people are just itching to point and laugh at my parking, other days I call myself the "Queen of the parallel park" - I'm just a terrible contradiction all round.
