Soooooo ladies...

I've been wanting to ask this question for a while now, but keep forgetting!

What do we do with the hair 'down there'? I can barely see it anymore anyway.. but..

Do you care? Would you give it a trim before your due date? Would you just leave it knowing that midwives have seen it all before and then some?

I'm curious to know and I know I shouldn't really care about it cause giving birth is not about looking good for anyone.. but..

What do you all think?

Personally, I don't care about it. It can stay. I can't see it anyway and I'd be scared I'd slice myself if I tried trimming it hence why I haven't attempted it for weeks lol.

My "intention" was to get a wax, or DH shave and neaten up.... but never got around to it!!!

I think midwives don't care as have seen it all before....

If you will feel betta about being neat and trim, ask your other half to neaten for you...

Once I was in labour, I didn't really care who was looking at my "forest"....as just wanted bubs out!!!!

Though DH did need to put on his Safari Hat and grab his Machette after bubs had popped out to help me tame the wild jungle!!!! Who knew what else was going to pop out of there!!!!

Lol - I never do anything with mine anyway! granted, I am not a hugely hairy person, but I figure that there will be so much going on, noone will notice anyway. The only thing would be if you think you might end up with a c section, to ge teh top trimmed or waxed or something, as that means it is ready for the knife.

1st time round I got them waxed, this time I shave it using the mirror.
I know everyone has seen it all before, but I can't stand the thought of hairs hanging out of my knickers or being long enough to plait!!!

i didn't do anything with it, personally by that point i just decided that my mw has seen it all before so i didn't bother.

I don't neaten up for the mw's, I figure they've seen it all before. But for my own personal preference, I shave the bikini line (top of the leg line) every now and then - basically if I grows beyond togs' border then that's too much for me lol. Every now and then I trim the length (just hack at it with the shaver, it's only a couple of hairs for me).

Don't shave before a c/s unless you know you're going to have one. If it's only a maybe, well there's time for them to prep you before the operation (I know, I had an emergency c/s). Believe me, it itches like mad when it grows back so only do it if necessary!

I had a trim up with the help of a mirror and some of that veet raysera - for my own vanity more than anything.

I was going to before I had Josh but couldn't see anything (funny that) and DH wasn't at home when I was doing it so left it. I do it myself usually.

Ha

This is something I have always thought about, my DH is worried at the thought of shaving my legs so I cant see him doing that.

I am not sure what I will do, I have a bikkini shaver so may try this.

I have started swimming and aqua aerobics so need to do it so I am not growling out the sides.

All these things that women need to worry about

I have actually thought about this too.
I think i will just leave it. Maybe try give it a trim so its not a jungle or maybe just bikini line but i dont see it getting that bad anyways. Ive never been a hugely hairy lady anyways haha.

Interesting thread indeed, Renee. Its something ive thought about a bit but i dont think id have the guts to ask!

Has anyone had their bikini waxed at the beauty salon while preggers? As i usually get a brazilian and like that its clean and hygienic down there.

Waxing - ow! hehe I'm too chicken to go there regardless of whether I'm pg or not

I've been able to shave all of pg1, all of pg2, all except last two weeks with pg3 (just left them cause I'm not too hairy, but I sure did like shaving after having baby lol)

I wouldn't get waxing done ever! hehe.. I'm a wimp!

And DH would kill me if I got a brazillian anyway, in his opinion he doesn't want to be with a woman that reminds him of a little girl down yonder lol.

But I can't wait until I can see what I'm doing and trust myself to be able to "tidy up" a bit

LMAO!!!! man iv had a good laugh at this thread as it is something i have always wondered about!! not sure why i find it funny actually!!!??? its just one of those giggley subjects!! lol

my DH has offered many a times to do it for me!! (CHEEKY BUGGER!!!) but i feel very weird having him do it!! He waxed for me when i was later stages of pregnancy with Bay and i still feel embarrassed thinking about it!!!
I might give it a go at trimming a bit but not for MW as like everyone else has said im sure she has seen much much worse before!! its more so it is tame, tidy and a bit more hygenic for the nitty gritty stages after bubs is born

Posted By: .Mel
Date Posted: 09 May 2007 at 4:05pm
I've been doing ok down there so far, I've been pushing the bump aside and giving the edges a wee tidy up... not sure how much longer I'm going to be able to keep that up for. My other option would be to use the mirror too, as I hate overhanging as well.

I remember after having Nyah I was absolutely horrified when I got home to see what was down there, and what an unruly mess it was! I swore I'd never let myself get that 'messy' again. So I have found that I'm alot more conscious of the growth and where it's heading than last time.

Man I am glad that I am not hairy! I shaved my legs for the first time in about 3 months the other day - you could almost play join the dots with my leg hair, it's so sparse!

I regularly had a brazilian before having bubs and kept going to my salon while pregnant, last one was at week 36 or 37 I think? Had DD at 38 weeks. However, after the birth and having stitches for a 2nd degree tear I couldn't face going back so got out of the 'cycle'. Haven't been back since and now we are on one income can't really justify it. My beauty therapist lady said she had one customer that was back in for a brazilian six weeks after giving birth, bubs was in the capsule in the room while she got one! That was just before telling me I 'shouldn't let myself go' after the birth Too late now!

LMAO   i dont think ive laughed this much in a long time, funny tho as due to us not having a bath at our house its getting increasingly difficult for me to shave my legs as i cant lift it up enough in the shower anymore and am petrified of falling over in the shower so lastnite had to get hubby to shave my legs which he found extremly amusing, and actually asked if he would have to have to give me trim up before my due date, i think i must have turned every shade of red before i left the room gigling.
i cant actually remember what i did for my first pregnancy now

i have been thinking about this to as I really cant remember what I did with haleigh.
but I cant see my feet atm let alone down there so last night I pulled the big mirror off my duchess and did it, was the only way I could think of doing it without cutting myself I did it more cause it felt weird not doing it for so long and i was to sore for weeks after having haleigh
My showers over a shub so I can just shve my legs still.
but as the others said your midwife isnt going to care, im sure she has seen way worse.

and omg i cant even wax my legs let alone down there, adn to do it while pregs

I have this special hair trimmer thing that I got from Dvice and I have just been using that and a mirror. I hate the thought of DH doing it and even though I'm not particularly hairy I don't like the whole 'wild' look personally. Just keeping it tidy and trimmed- more for myself than the midwives.

I always get my legs waxed and normal bikini. The problem with stopping and then starting again is that it really really hurts. Keep it up and it gets easier and softer...

I got waxed on the weekend so am "tidy". I have got another booking for week 39 with the proviser of only if I haven't had her already.... That way I don't have to worry for a while after the birth.

I trim myself anyways and was able to trim last time so will probably try again before she comes.

I have a vague memory of sitting on the lounge floor watching tv, with a towel under my legs with the shaving foam, razor, spare towel, and ice cream container full of warm water, and hubbie shaving my legs a day before Nyah was born, he did right to the top too, and I have to say he was very good at it too..took flippin ages though, can see there being a repeat performance very soon, cause my leg won't stay up in the shower anymore

Lol Mel - I sat in the shower and kind of moved my legs around in there while sitting - I doubt I would get my leg up to shave it the way I could pre bubs either!

God that is all so hilarious!

Has anyone else noticed that their hair down there, legs and underarms grows outrageously fast while pg? Regular maintenance is a necessity and I will definitely need help once I can't do it myself!!

i had my last brazilian done at 5-6 months pg...hurt worse than usual! then did tidy up with razor before the birth....ummm i knew i was having a c section but maybe it was wishful thinking????

BUT couldnt do my legs...just couldnt reach and DH had never gotten round to learning so i had hairy legs but nice and tidy ***!!!! Go figure!!! thank god the pressure stockings i had to wear for 5 whole days covered my hairy legs....lmao!!!

Am now enjoying being able to shave legs again..not sure when i will brave a brazilian again...am kinda scared my c scar might rip right open....LOL!!!

totally off topic, sorry, but i've been seriously comtemplating getting a brazilian recently as i've kind of got a new man........but i'm scared!!! lol
BS it sounds like you've had afew done, does it really hurt as much as they say.....and does it bleed??

sorry for the thread jack.

It doesn't hurt too much depends if they use hot wax or warm wax. Hot is better, doesn't hurt as much, mostly it is a little stingy after but they give you a lotion for it. Personnally i loved the results, at first its a bit weird, being completely smoothe but it is a nice feeling, and i found it really great for hygiene. Oh and DF lurved it too..

Having hair down there doesn't have anything to do with hygiene!!! Being hairy doesn't mean you're dirty at all!   People still WASH down there.

I guess it all comes down to how you feel about, or how far you can reach.

Ooooer tell me more!

And it does hurt, but not as much as childbirth and it doesn't bleed... well, didn't for me.

I don't know if I'd get a brazilian again as I'm never consistent with these sorts of things.

May get a bikini wax soon tho.

And as far as the end of pregnancy goes... I left it all. Figured midwife had been doing it long enough to not worry! And didn't have a DP present so had no worries about that... mind you, it isn't the most flattering of times anyway! hehe

I got DH to 'tidy' a bit - just felt more comfortable with the idea than going all hairy!
Didn't matter right at the end, with an emergency ceasar ... which they shave you for by the way, although the staff midwife should have gone down further, cos some of the hairs got in the staples and that hurt when they removed them all, but hey, not a biggie overall.

And sorry if TMI .. but I personally found being 'shorter' helped with the feeling of being clean & actually cleaning etc, especially while you have locchia.

Brazillians do hurt quite a bit, but it is a pain that goes away instantly and it definately is worth it!

It's all over in a flash and looks great, that is until you start getting stubble and those nasty ingrown hairs or is that just me!!!???

right girls, after just having my baby and being able to see down there once again, may I please stress that you must go and get it waxed because OMG, what a mess! I was shaving in the mirror thinking that I was doing an OK job, but no, there is enough hair to call me Rupunzal (sp) and there are bits half way down my legs that I missed.....
That sight was just about as shocking as the birth
