Having only had one scan throughout my pregnancy, I kinda got used to the fact that I probably wouldn't be able to see him till he arrived, but since my little monkey decided to turn breech I get a sneak preview today at 38 weeks!
Is it silly to worry that something will be wrong when my 20 week scan showed everything was perfectly normal?
What if he's a she?! What if he's grown extra fingers or legs?!
My mum is coming along with and she is SO excited!
MW will be here in 45 mins to check my BP so I have to think calming thoughts..

Yay! I loved seeing my bubs on scans! Crossing fingers and toes for your BP to be down and little man to have turned!

Thank you!
I've got everything crossed too! My BP is usually good early in the morning so hopefully it will be good today.
I'll just lie down and rest till five minutes before she gets here and try to trick my body into behaving!

Good luck today!
I found the later scans so weird, it was like "there's a whole person (or two ) in there!" On my last scan at 36 weeks they could even see Siennas hair, it was pretty cool.

For some reason I can't stop thinking that he's going to be a she.
Guess I'll find out soon!

How exciting! Bubs will be so big on the scan, I remember seeing the outline of DD's mouth at her 38 week scan, and her hair.
Tip: Lie down for as long as possible before your MW arrives and then try to get her to take your BP while you are lying down. Good luck!

Well BP has dropped a bit, but she's still not happy with it. 110/94. It's the bottom number she doesn't like, but she said if it goes anywhere near 160/100, then I'm off to hospital. Thankfully my bloods are still fine and BP isn't rising!
Off to catch the bus now to meet my mum and then off to my scan! So excited now!
If he's breech she is definitely recommending I have a c-section. She said I can choose to birth naturally if I want to, and she will support me in that decision, but she recommends c-section as it's my first baby.
Ugh, my scan is costing me $30! Oh well.

How exciting that you get to see bubs today....hopefully he has turned.
Glad your BP has dropped a bit, mine has been normal right through out my pregnancy but it was a bit high on Tuesday when I saw my MW but she wasn't too concerned about it because it was only up a litle bit.

Here's hoping for your scan!
I loved the later scans (Briona kept getting turning and then growth scans - and then was 8lb4oz LMAO), they are so much clearer and more like a baby.

Well everyone I'm back from my scan.
Baby is footling breech and will be evicted next week. I will have an appointment at the hospital as soon as possible and then schedule my c-section.
He is kneeling down and his feet and knees are tucked right into my pelvis.
On another note, baby is EIGHT pounds already!
I hate to think what he'll weigh next week when he comes out!

Did he have hair?? come on give the details lol...

I couldn't tell!! It was just a basic scan. Is it only on the 3D ones that you can see stuff? She gave me a picture of his face and everything but I can't see a thing!
The only thing I got to find out is that his knees and feet are squished up into my pelvis and he's in the 83rd percentile for weight.
|
Posted By: BaAsKa
Date Posted: 10 May 2007 at 1:40pm
nah mine was just a normal scan where they could see his hair.
They estimated that bay was already 9lb at my late scan and that he would be 12ish lbs when born! but a weeks or so later when he was born he was only 7lb 14 oz so dont fret too much

It was really exciting! Especially for my mum to see as well. The end of the first page in this thread says that the naughty little thing has turned footling breech though, that's why I had to have the scan.
I'll get to see him for real next week though!!!

Wow Renee I hope the sudden c/s date etc hasn't put you in too much shock, your mummy day is coming up very very fast now!
Have you got a big freezer? See if you can get yourself a good lot of easy meals in there this week, cause you may find it difficult when you first get home from the hospital. (By the way they will probably expect you to stay in hospital for 4 days-ish). Gosh, so much to organise! Take a good magazine to read up there too.
How are you feeling about the sudden change of plan?

I feel pretty great! I'm ready for him to come out and I have a week to get organised and prepared mentally for him to come. I've got my mum coming to stay with me afterwards so will be looked after really well! Four days! That's ages!! I'll be taking heaps of magazines and books to read while I'm there I think.
I don't think I'm in shock just yet, but I might be later today? When it sinks in. Although I feel pretty good about what's happening.
Of course I would have loved to try to give birth naturally, but he is so far squished into my pelvis, that turning him would be hard and my high blood pressure means they will want to just get him out I think.
NEXT WEEK!!!

I've just been reading about my little breech monkey and he's not footling breech at all! He's a kneeling breech which apparently is very rare.

Hahah, I have no idea how he feels, but I will when he gets home from work in 15 minutes!
I'm sure he will be fine too.
I just want to do what is best for my baby, and I think at this stage, a c-section is the best way to go. He's unlikely to move now and with my blood pressure being high I guess it's time for him to come out now.
And reading all the stories from the c-section support threads on OHbaby has really put my mind at ease and made me realise that there are so many strong women out there who have been through this, have coped magnificently and been absolutely fine afterwards and if I can come even a little bit close to the bravery and strength of these women, I'll be really pleased with myself.

Gosh if he's kneeling then he must be pretty uncomfortable

I thought that too! The radiologist could barely even see his legs as he's really jammed himself into my pelvis! I'm hoping if he is really uncomfortable, he will move!

I have no idea how or why he has moved into that position, but walking around the supermarket was shocking! It felt like his legs were going to slip out. So uncomfortable and weird.

*tries to imgagine knees in her pelvis* Ouch!
Glad you have got a plan of attack now Renee, and that your wee man will be here next week! LMAO at the growth estimate - my wee Maya was born at 38 weeks over 9lb
They could see Sienna's hair on the normal scan too, something to do with it sticking to the vernix which makes it visible.

Wow exciting for you that you have a date now to work towards. I liked having that with Josh it was like I could prepare for everything and not ahve to drop things just cos I went into labour.
Josh was born at 38 weeks and was a 9lb'er as well.

Yay, I'm so excited! And my usually non-emotive, non caring DP is getting excited too! He's put in the car seat and talks about my stay in hospital and what will happen and he looks at the calendar to see which day it will be.
But yeah, the knees in pelvis is really not comfortable. His knees are all bony and I can feel them digging in on either side.
I'm still waiting on the hospital to call and give me an appointment to see the OB, so hopefully that will be soon!!
