I've been watching "Downsize Me" and while I don't have a lot of weight to lose, I'm just aware that a lot of my eating habits are probably not helping me in the energy arena - and believe me, I need as much energy as I can get! I think my biggest problem is going into the kitchen when I'm peckish or tired and grabbing something that will only help me for 10 mins and then I'm hungry again Go on, share some good eating habits with me! Something instead of biscuits

I have really bad habits. Specially while I study I seem to much the whole time.

Something that really helps is those little boxes of raisins. Really nice treat. You dont overeat as they are in small boxes, plus it is nice if you have a sweet tooth.

To loose the 10-12kgs I needed to for my wedding in Feb, I utilised the services of the trainers on Downsize Me as I am friends with one of them! I got fantastic results from my eating plan, but I must say that exercise is the absolute key. Cardio, cardio, cardio, I was running over 10kms a day the last two months before my wedding to get down to my goal weight, it was blimmin hard work!

Snacking ideas from my eating plan as they call it, not "diet" are: raw almonds, one peice of fruit, big rice cracker with peanut butter, smoothie with protein powder, lite yoghurts, and drinking a minimum of 2 litres a day. Leading up to my wedding I was drinking 4 litres a day!

It worked, I was 1kg off my goal weight on 3rd Feb!

Yes I do want to get into walking (haven't been able to go for a walk basically all year) but am waiting for my foot to heal properly Crackers are a good idea though. Crackers & cheese will be our morning teas this week instead of bikkies.

I always try to have hummus in the fridge. I've find that good with rice crackers or carrot sticks to have as a snack. I must admit though, bikkies are YUM!

Every morning cut up a plate of fruit and veg, amybe add some dried fruit and nuts ect and have that on hand in the kitchen, that way when you go in hunting for a snack its all ready, thats what i do and it seems to work pretty well.

And the kids can eat it too.

I also keep a cup in the bathroom and on kitchen bench and each time I go near them i have a glass of water, keeps me having my 8+ glasses a day, and aparently often when you feel hungry you are actually thirsty. I make sure I have my drinks even if I am not thirsty.

So thats my two cents worth..

Natalie's idea is good. actually the Healthy Food mag has an article this month about snacking...

I'm eating walnuts at the mo - full of omega three and we have a giant tree and about 20kilos of the things.

Yum Liz I love cracking walnuts and eating them out of the shell.

We are a cracker family. I would eat them over chippies any day (but I don't mind having chippies every now and then).

I drink heaps of water and try to walk most days.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
