I am going to Invercargell in June with Neil while he attends a conference, so I will have plenty of daytime hours to occupy with a 6 month old.
So I was wondering if any local mums could let me in on the where, when and how secrets of your town. At this point I am staying in a motel in Tay St. Does the cinema do infant sessions? Where is the best coffee and cake made? or a casual playgroup, music session, etc? Any good ideas for a walk?
Of course I'd love to meet any OhBaby mums and track down that perfect coffee with them
Thanx
Claire

I think it's a week, Neil is at a conference during the week and then we have the weekend to explore, either Te Anau or the Catlins. We always end up down south during June last year we went to Milford sound.

I'm an ex Invergiggle girl ( or should I say Girrrl ) too, and I agree - wrap up warm - although I now Live in Dunedin - which is just as cold.
Queens Park is Beautiful!! And a lovely walk, it has ponds with ducks (to feed) and animals (I'm sure they are still there) a big playground, and (maybe - can't remember) an Avery. The musem is on the outskirts of the park with the Tuatara's as well which if I remember rightly you can sometimes see from the outside.
Xanthes Mum is a Southern Girl....she would probably be able to tell you a bit more - in regards to cafes, and things to do with wee bubbas.

hi claire!
yes i am in invercargill, so can point you in the direction of playgroups/cafes etc. is fay your only bubba or do you have older ones too? will you have a vehicle while here or relying on buses?
what motel are you staying at, as i live off tay st (but tay street is really really long and there are motels most of the way along it lol) and we could meet up, or you are welcome to come to my place if you want to.
there is plenty to do to occupy yourself, depending on the age of your kiddies :)

lol! it is not THAT bad. today the sky is blue and the sun is out, i have 3 loads of washing on the line already. we will walk to kindy and back because it is so nice out you are in wellington aren't you?
for bubbas there is a bit less to do, but we go to a music class that jordis is starting to pay attention to. (but the other half of it is crafts for older kids, and she sleeps then) or we go to a play cafe which is run by a local church. heaps of room for kids to play with cool toys while mums get to chill out and enjoy a coffee or hot choc and cake.
we can definately find a cafe to get the good coffees. my fav is one called zookeepers (also on tay st, its a very long st) but is not really that child friendly.
and of course my house is childproofed with lots of toys, and a ready made playmate for fay in jordis!
let me know what type of thermals you have
