I am after some reccomondations regarding breast pads. I am really wanting reusable ones as am getting sick of buying them. I have tried hemp ones and to be honest, I find they suck, they are fine till I feed Jack, and then when my milk lets down on the other side they are soaked and leaking, no matter what I do.
So does anyone else have some they find good to use? ------------- ">

I tried some plain ones from my MW clinic and I hated them. Because there was no plastic backing, they just leaked right through  I know what you mean about being sick of buying breast pads though!-------------  |

| I haven't had my milk come in of course but the tweedle ones are really good so far, they have hemp and microfleece with nylon on the back. They are also kinda big so have more area for soaking up milk I guess. |

Nothink at all would hold the leakage from my other breast while I was feeding Han in the early days. I used to have to hold a cloth nappy to it to stem the flow, or reach down and press down on the nipple to stop it flowing everywhere.
So you may just have the luck of having a brilliant milk supply! But keep on your quest... I wish I had known about reusable ones sooner. I wasted a freaking fortune in breastpads. Maybe try something like microfibre which will absorb faster than hemp...? |

Hemp does have to be washed quite a lot to be really absorbant.
I just have home-made one with a PUL backing which were great. Maybe something like that would be good? Outrageous do really good ones (so I've heard).... you can get them through http://www.greenbeans.co.nz - Greenbeans . The Tweedle ones are fab! They have an internal layer of hemp, with a PUL backing and microfleece stay-dry liner. Rachael donates 50c of every pink pair sold to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. They also come in a handy little bag so they don't get lost in the laundry!
Using washable breast pads also saves a lot of money ------------- My beautiful 2 girls...nearly 4 and 13 months

I've got a fair few reusable,a nd I have to say, they all bloody well leak, and I hate them!! I use pidgeon disposibles, i find them awesoe and very very absorbent, and best of all, they work like a sanny pad, they draw the moisture away. Nothing worse than waking int he midddle of the night with wet sheets and top and bra and soaking pads. ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

I preferred disposable even though expensive but then again I wasnt able to feed for long and I expressed soley for 5wks.

have you tried wool ?

I am allergic to wool, otherwise I would use them. I have the breastmates hemp ones and I just find I leak, all the time with them (have been using for about 7 weeks now so lots of washes too). I think the problem is, I have huge breasts and a huge supply and not much copes with them ------------- ">

I find my wool ones worst! Lilypads are great from all accounts, I have a friend who swears by them. If I hadn't bought up on pads so much before I had C, I owuld have bought some. ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

| I agree with the other girls about the Tweedle ones - but then again I don't really leak unless I haven't expressed all night long (disgusting to admit but I am able to use for two days then wash). I find these really absorbant though (I can wipe any milk trails that escape the breast pump) and quick drying through the wash. |
