Ok, I'm not doing too well with the whole exercise thing, mainly because walking really hurts now so I thought I would like to swim (or at least float around in a weightless environment)

BUT.......my togs, dont fit and bikinis look HIDEOUS!!!! My bump doesnt even look pregnant in a bikini just HUGE!! Now I know you'd all tell me different but Ithink bikinis are too much for the body image my mind has.....what other options have people used? A tshirt over top? etc????

HELP!!!!

I swum heaps during my pregnancy and I wore bikini bottoms and a sports bra/top thingy that came down over my stomach. It was made out of 'tog' material and I brought it ages ago (pre-pregnancy) from Rebel Sport. It was good cause it stretched over my growing tummy. In the end though I didn't really care what I looked like. I'd just do a mad dash for the water, then once I was in I was safe...lol

So it was like a singlet in tog material????? that could work...man i was loving my bump till I saw it in togs and now I am having a body image crisis....bloody hormones.. But I was so gutted as I am really looking forward to weightlessness in the pool. Starting to feel big and heavy.

Yeah, but it had a built in elastic part that went under your boobs. Was really comfy. I loved being in the water when pregnant, felt so good! It made me forget I had a tummy (in a good way)

I wore singlet made out of togs material and pajama shorts lol I swan 4times aweek when pg and loved it. The only prob I had was the made dash to the toilets when I got out. It was sooo nice to be weighless but as soon as I was trying to heave my body out of the water, baby would flop down on my bladder causing me to nearly WET my pantsEmbarrassedEmbarrassed.

LOL @ your DF, what a sweetie to do that for you.
I was in JK over the weekend and they had some really nice tasteful black non preggie looking togs, sorry don't know how much they were.

I've also got a tog fabric singlet that I got from Postie Plus, doesn't quite make it to the knicker line but it does it's job. I wear that and tog shorts

I used bikini with t-shirt over top, but it really weighs you down. So then I bought maternity togs s/hand off TM but haven't actually used them for swimming yet lol.

All I do now is wear bikini bottoms, a tankini top with a glassons singlet over top and no one has even noticed that it's not actual togs and keeps my belly covered (just)

I got a great maternity tankini off trademe for $30 (it was brand new). It's normal bikini bottoms, although they are quite low cut in front so they sit under the bump. The top is like a normal tankini singlet top but with extra fabric in front. I'm wearing it to my aquanatal classes and it's awesome.

GAAAAH!! No idea what happened there

Nzpiper, I just tried to find the username of the person I bought the togs from off trademe, because they seem to specialise in maternity stuff, but I can't find it. I do still have their email though, so PM me if you want it.

The tankinis are great  i have pretty much the same thing but got it on sale rack at amazon.. It's just bikini bottom with singlet/tank top combo - feels & looks alot nicer on & you feel like you can move better compared to wearing normal togs. I didn't buy maternity one though - just bought a bigger size

I just wear boardshorts undone with a singlet over top.

nzpiper you are in chch aren't you? Theres pregnant classes done at burwood on wed and fri mornings I think its about $2 and you can do it from 28 weeks. Its really good cos its not in a public pool and everyone is preg and a lot of them just wear a bikini. Ask your midwife about it or ring burwood.

Rachandjack, that would be great....if only I wasnt working!!! Man, work gets in the way of a good life doesnt it? I live in Beckenham so Burwood is a wee way to go and I dont have a car during the week...bloody one car families! But i hope to get to rebel sport and have a look at what they have and then look at floating around pioneer one night.
