Being overweight while pregnant is this a bad thing?? Even know I lost a lot of my first baby weight, I have seemed to pile alot of back on. I am only 12 weeks pregnant and feel like a hippo already and it gets me down! I have forgotten, is it normal to put abit of weight on in the 1st trimester? I am walking a few times a week also.

The second time around you apparantly will get bigger a lot sooner as everything is already stretched from the first pregnancy. Dont worry too much. If you are eating healthily I really wont worry that much at all.

I got alot bigger faster with this baby! but in the same i also lost alot of weight! at the begining and have so far only put on 3 kgs. Everyone is different and i dont think there is any set ammount although they say 12ish kgs over the whole alot of people dont stick to that! and theres nothing wrong with that!
Im overweight to begin with and my MW is still not concerned in the least.

I was overweight with both of my pregs, & I also found I got bigger faster but lost weight right at the beginning of both. So long as you are getting some exercise, don't over do fat & sugar intake as these will effect you quicker with already being big. Keep your water intake up to flush your system.
Biggets thing is to make sure you are eating a healthy & varied diet & keep up the walking. My blood pressure was up slightly towards the end of pregs but mw was never worried & we had healthy babies.
Good luck, & try not to get down over this, if you do try do something nice for yourself instead of going for comfort foods - go out for a nice stroll, do some gardening, buy a nice plant etc.

I'm not even going to go there with how big I was when I was full term with the gremlins, suffice to say I was too heavy for the scales at my obstetricians clinic
I didn't put on too much weight having Maya, within normal range, it was afterwards that I piled it on. But I was still overweight for my height during both pregnancies and I don't think it made a difference at all. I kept getting told I was at risk of high BP, gest diabetes etc. but none of it happened.
Kezplanet has the right idea tho - plenty of water and a varied, healthy diet.

I have heard second time round you put on weight quicker. (I have only been there once) I piled on just over 20kgs with Tyrell. I was always asked if I was having twins or told at 7 - 8 months wow you are about to drop...so yes I was a big girl and managed to produce a big boy!
I think as long as you are eating well and still doing some exercise I say bugger what "should" be.

I gained alot quicker this time round but more in weight, with haleigh it was fat (mind you i worked at kfc when i was pregs with haleigh lol).
It shouldnt be a problem so long as you keep up some sort of regular exercise, healthy eating and drink lots of water.

Yeah we are eating good, drinking loads of water and every now and then have a pig out on the junk food! I feel better about the whole thing, went out and brought some nice stretchy preggy t-shirts from JK! :o)

I hate it how everyone makes a big deal about weight when you are pregnant. I put on 20kgs when I was having Alex, and everyone reminded me of it every day. I felt fat and ugly and hated it. I was actually a bit depressed about it all. And then I worked my but off to loose it, which went ok but the last 5 kgs never came off. Now I am 66kgs at 13 weeks pregnant, and this time I will not let myself get so wrapped up in it all. I will eat what I want when I want and as long as Im not being a big piggy then I don't think any one should care. I try to eat a balanced diet, and not too much junk food, and as soon as I have a bit more energy I intend on doing a bit more walking. But my advive to all pregnant ladies is to not worry about what anyone says, and to love your preggy body. Its a really special time, and it goes by fast, and we should all enjoy it! Buy some nice preggy clothes so you don't feel like a blimp, and love your belly (and all the other wobbly bits!) Oh and don't look at mags who have 'skinny' preggy models who look gorgeous in their designer maternity wear... coz it all lies!!!!

I agree nicola-ann, pregnancy is far too short to be worrying about what other people think or say, enjoy it while you can

Funnily enough, huge and over it as I was by full term with the gremlins, it still was kinda nice that everyone stared at my ginormous bump every time I ventured out
