Oh My Goodness.  It's been MONTHS since little Ella could poop - seriously months of needing an enema before she could go most times, and it causing her so much pain she'd scream and bleed, and sob away afterwards.  Lactulose didn't work, Coloxyl didn't work, mountains of pureed prunes didn't help (half her solids were prunes!), massages and warm baths and exercising her didn't seem to make a bean of difference... NOTHING helped, and eventually we tried kiwifruit.  Yep, pureed up some gold kiwi (natures little miracle-food I'd call it!), one fruit a day, and suddenly we've got a lean, mean poopin machine!  She hasn't swung the other way, and still needs to see 3 different Docs at the hospital for it t figure out what the heck went wrong, but FINALLY we've got some relief!

So if your bub has trouble pooping, and you've been trying everything, throw some gold kiwi in the mix too - worth a shot!  And if you mix it with alkaline foods (breastmilk and farex work - smells completely vile but Ella chows down on it) with it, the acid of the fruit should be OK for bubs.  Well, she is 7 months - I don't know that I'd give it to a newborn though.  But HORRAY for the Kiwi!!!

YAY for Ella! Kiwi fruit only occasionally works for Caitlin.

She's now on a homeopathic rememdy and seems to do the trick. I took her off it at the weekend, just to see what would happen, and what do ya know... she stopped going again. I put her back on it last night and on the way to Mum's this morning.... nice big pressie for Nanna

You can get "KiwiCrush", its in the frozens dept at shops - I have seen it in Hornby pak n save & new world, I havnt had to use it but for those on medication that causes constipation it works a treat. It is used at Hilmorton Hospital to keep everyone regular. Only a little a day is needed so even if the fruit is not in season it is still pretty easy to come by without getting too expensive.
Great that you found something that helps Ella and that is soo good for her as well

Hmmmm.... good thinking, Deb.  I'm always freezing ice-cubes of homemade foods for Ella, so I'd better build up our reserves of kiwi-cubes while I can!

Andie, thanks for the PM about using Gold Kiwi. Just finished blending up 2kg of green! Oh well, will see how it goes. Is so sour! Am going to have to try and hide a wee bit in some pumpkin or some apples. So want to help the poor wee lad.
