The high school is an unhealthy working enviroment for Nat. Ohakune in general is not good for me. We both are just so unhappy! so we've made the decision that as soon as a suitable job comes up we're out of here, although we'd both like to wait until the end of the school year (easier for Kiya changing schools, and easier for Nat and his students not having to adjust to a new teacher/school partway through the year)

Wellington is attracting us... watch this space!

Excellent!

I'm glad you are making a move towards a more positive place to live (and therefore a happier life)

I think you deserve it

Good luck for Nat and the job hunting!

Edited to fix spelling

Becca - have been to Ohakune- let's just say compared to Taumarunui wher I grew up, Ohakuna was the "big smoke" so i can understand your frustration!

P>S Taumarunui High school is looking for teachers ....

Best of luck Becca. I don't get the small town thing myself, doesn't really appeal to me. I *need* to have a Pumpkin Patch in spitting distance

I'm not really a small town person, and living here has made that very clear to me. Nat feels similar to me. Kiya loves it here, but at the same time, she is still raving about our trip to Wellington last September so I think she'd adjust to a bigger place just fine!

Okay, quick question: What do you peoples know about Taita College?

hehe havent been through since last year, when there was lots of snow(Turoa is better than Whakapapa for snowboarding)
Have connections in waste management too.
Supa Bins is based in the other Central North Island small town, which starts with the letter "O" (thats where i live)

Taita College - used to be pretty rough, but has a pretty good reputation now. Check out their website....

Nat did look at their website, and I was going to (haven't quite got there yet)... but word of mouth says so much more than the "public" face of a website.

The reason I asked is because Nat applied for a job there last night

Taita College used to have major problems with drugs etc around 8 years ago but they clamped down on it. . Most colleges have issues with drugs etc at some stage so not sure that this is saying much. Generally a good school, there are others alot worse - not to bad there at all.

Best of luck to you & your family daikini, wellington is a lovely place, I spent most of my life there. Great place to grow up
