If you're wondering whether your carseat is installed properly, here's your chance to get it checked by qualified pros and get some freebies for the kids as well! I found this in the local rag today:

"In a bid to save little lives, Ace Motors, ACC and Safe2Go will check the installation of children's car safety restraints FREE of charge on Saturday, 2 June.

The clinic will be held from 11am to 2pm and Ace Motors General Manager, Reece McKerrow, recommends caregivers who drive with young children should attend.

While child restraints are being checked or, if time allows, fitted by a qualified technician, children will be cared for and will receive free barbecued sausages, soft drinks and balloons.

Contact Reece or Annie on 0800-223-227 or visit http://www.acemotors.co.nz/promo - www.acemotors.co.nz/promo for more information. Ace Motors, 519 Ellerslie-Panmure Highway, Panmure (next to McDonald's)."

I had my carseat checked by a Safe2Go technician yesterday and was shocked to find out how much was wrong with it. I'll be posting an article on the site soon for everyone to read about my mistakes. I highly recommend getting your seat checked -- the little things make a BIG difference!

That is such an awesome idea!!

If you're not able to get to Panmure to have it checked, Plunket carseat centres will help you install them free of charge too.
I was completely baffled when we moved Benjy out of his capsule and into his rearfacing seat, and having someone who knew what they were doing install it was a big relief.

Hi

Our antenatal group was introduced to Melanie at www.babyonthemove.co.nz who was demonstrating what to look for in a capsule/carseat so I thought I would let those of you in the Waikato know that they also do capsule/carseat fitting.

In Hamilton, although not professionally qualified, our babyonthemove rental people said that even if you don't rent a capsule or carseat from them, that they are quite happy to install/fit ANY capsule/carseat in your car free of charge -

x

Why, yes, she was, and she also has two gorgeous little boys and a handsome husband! In fact, once she left, I was embarrassed to notice just how shockingly grotty my kitchen was... and was hoping that someone so obviously pulled-together as the Carseat Lady was hadn't noticed!

LOL

Everyone, welcome Bonnie -- aka CRS -- who will soon be on board as the OHbaby! child restraint safety expert!

Don't worry, I have a feeling that her kitchen looks about ten times worse then your kitchen (which really wasn't that bad any way!). Why do you think I never have anyone over? Means I have to clean! :P
