I thought I'd start a new thread for the mums dinner so it's easy to find and doesn't get lost in all the other threads on the GC board. Have we decided on a venue yet?

And easy to get for those with a bad sense of direction aye Jax?

Seriously though....central and cheap would be my only suggestions.

Just having a nosey here, how about La Porchetta (they are in the City (Hobson Street) and Parnell), they are pretty cheap and I am sure they are BYO as well. www.laporchetta.co.nz (they don't have prices on the webpage though).

Can i ask why the dads arent allowed to come to the dinner?  isnt it a little sexist by saying no males allowed?  My hubby might enjoy an evening out eating pizza with out little sticky fingers around.

Nothing sinister, when I thought of the idea I just thought it would be nice to have a 'girls night out' and that way we'd all (or most of us anyway ) have a trustworthy babysitter.

Hi

sorry i cant make it, i've looked at the price list and unfortunately a little too much for me at the moment.  Also i dont drive either so it would mean DH having to bring me out and pick me up and bring my babies out in the cold weather.  thanks anyway, however i will be there for the coffee at the end of the month

Where did you find the price list guys? I can't seem to dig one up from their crappy website. Am thinking now that La Porchetta would be more suitable.

You need to click on menus then click on from the kitchen....I'll show you when we come over if you like.

And if everyone else is happy with NSP I wouldn't worry about changing unless everyone else wants to. I've personally already now confirmed dinner with my SIL anyway.

yah it is a bit pricey....avr $24 for pasta and $30 for main. we cn change the venue guys for some where a bit cheeper. do people want italian? I am sure there are cheeper places around..... Does any one have any other places?? we have a week to decide.

If you go here: http://www.menus.co.nz/nonsolopizza/ - http://www.menus.co.nz/nonsolopizza/

There is a more current menu - I did some investigating and I don't think the NSP website has been updated in quite some time.

Pizzas are around $21-23, Pasta about $16-18 entree size and $21-25 main size. Not *too* bad I reckon, about what I would expect to pay in Parnell (minimum).

But I am flexible so, it's up to you guys

There is a La Porchetta just down from NSP. The only prob with that is you cant book and the restaurant isn't the largest.... If we do decide on La Porchetta I reckon we go for the one in the city as it is bigger..

I'm not fussed, haven't booked yet, but will probably need to book by Tues at the latest with there being so many of us. I'm not sure going somewhere that doesn't take bookings is a good idea tho coz we're a big group and could end up waiting ages.

I'm happy with whatever the rest of you decide.

OK, she's confirmed they can take us, will be on two separate tables as they have a couple of other large groups, but she said the two tables will be close to/next to each other so we can still mix and mingle.

She's emailing thru the set menu options, when I get them I'll throw them up and you can decide which way you want to go.

Oky doky, spoke to NSP this morning and the guy was infinitely more helpful than the rather rude lady I dealt with yesterday.

It's not really a 'set menu' so to speak, it's more of a banquet. It basically consists of bread etc. when we arrive, then a selection of antipastos and some meatballs as a starter, then a selection of pizzas as a main, and a fruit platter at the end. Thats $40pp.

I'm happy to go with the set menu if it suits everyone else, makes things a lot less chaotic with them trying to get everyones orders straight etc plus it makes divvying up the bill at the end a lot easier. What do y'all think? I have to let them know by tomorrow morning.

I will go with the groups decision on food. Set menu is okay if others want to do it.

Re parking, there is a pay and display carpark across from where most of the restaurants are located. Its just after The Bog Pub beside the little church for memory??

I thought this carpark would be the most convenient and safest option???
