The kitchen was really gross...particularly the fridge which was full of expired food...I mean, who needs to keep meat from 2003???? And don't get me started on the maggots in the avocados!

I just can't fathom how anyone can function in that kind of environment. How on earth could you do anything when you can't even see the floor?!

You just never know how people live until you see their house ahy!

We have a house a few kms from us that is an absolute disgrace! You can tell from the outside that it is a tip inside and that it is filthy, but the guy that I see leaving from it every morning (I see him when I am on my morning walk) is aged around 50-ish, is immaculately dressed, drives a brand spanking new Nissan Primera and I NEVER could imagine him living in the disgusting house that he does! The picture just doesn't fit!

But why would you go on TV with a house like that?

I think people like that are mentally unwell - surely no one in their right mind would actually live like that...?

I missed most of it, but caught the tail end of it, and from what I saw - YUCK!!!! Don't understand how people can let it get that bad.

My MIL's house is pretty gross, we lived their while I was pregnant for 2-3 months after DH's father passed away. In the morning I would dry retch walking through the kitchen. We gave it a major clean (DH's, aunties, SIL and I) when his father passed and even though she has got much better it is still pretty gross.

ETA: In her defence she has a pretty busy life - works 40+ hours a week as a carer and then has 9 horses and some other livestock to deal with when she gets home. I love her heaps, but unfortunately she doesn't have a domestic bone in her body. If she wouldn't take offence to it I would organise a cleaner for her a couple of hours a week, but scared she would

I agee I think that the lady was ill, with the hoarding and her reluctance to throw anything away. I am getting more and more suspicious of the program, every week they go in and sniff the towels and bedsheets, then tell people off, splash around a bit of white vinegar or baking soda, and hey presto, the people are transformed into clean freaks in one day. It takes a baby 3 days to learn new behaviour, never mind fully grown adults. Does anyone know how soon they go back to visit their victims? Does anyone know why I never have anything better to do at 8 on a Wednesday?

yer i would like to see her house in a years time and see what she has horded then. it is a illiness and when it gets so bad thay dont know where to start and cant stand the thought of chucking away their things she will need mental help if she wants to keep it tidy. seen a few programs with people like her in it and could see when thay showed her sourting through stuff she was having trouble throwing things away.

Lol Janine! I just parted with 3 lipsticks I've never worn because they are such ugly colours, but have held on to them for years because I couldn't bear to waste them.
I love that part of moving too. One year I moved 4 times and by the final move, I was so streamlined I had no junk at all. I t was so quick and easy!
That was pre-baby though, I hate to think about moving now!
