Daniel wakes at least once in the night sometimes up to four times. On multiple wake nights I can usually resettle him easily the first few times but always at least once (and on the nights he only wakes once) nothing will get him back to sleep except a bottle. I've tried everything from controlled crying and only giving him water to letting him in bed with me but nothing works except the bottle. I was starting to think maybe this was normal till reading the sleep article in the latest treasures mag. which says that by his age (15mths) he should be sleeping throu fine. But none of the advice it offered was relevant to his situation. ANY IDEAS PLEASE I need a full nights sleep!!! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Hi. Night wakings can be tough huh, hope you're holding up ok with the disturbed sleep. I have a few suggestions which I can PM you about if you like. However, I would really recommend checking out the Sleep Store website & emailing Louise from the site. She is absolutely wonderful & helped us get our little one sleeping through at 7.5mths.
I would certainly think it is more of a habit / comfort thing than a hunger issue so seeking ways to get him sleeping through is probably a good idea at this point. What is he like during the day? Does he eat / drink plenty? ------------- Mummy to Gabrielle and Ashley |

I'll second the suggestion to contact the sleep store expert - she gave me some good advice for Ella, and what I liked was that it was somewhat tailored to our specific problem. Worth a shot - hope you can get some sleep soon, it sounds like mighty hard slog you're going through! ------------- Andie |

Sorry but we never really found a solution..  I hate how they say that at a certain age a child should be sleeping through, as it really is different for every child.. I know that doesn't help with you needing sleep, but just wanted to know that we've been there, and that yes, they do grow out of it!!

i would contact the sleep store too..
yeah people who say "should be" really annoy me too. a baby ok and then a sleep sack solved our boys night waking...he was a shocker, even after i stopped feeding him in the night he would wake up and sometimes take up to 2 hours to settle back down... |

thanks I'll definatly get in contct with them. He is fine during the day. does his day sleeps reasonably well and has a perfect bedtime routine and goes down like a dream.... just doesn't stay down. lol. Tried a suggestion I was given of just letting him cry last night. bad bad idea! he screamed for an hour and a half then wouldn't settle for another 45 mins after I went in to him. won't be doing that again. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

puck how old is your child?... your ticker seems to say he is only 3 months old and if that is the case then multiple wakings is normal...
ahhh just saw in your first post he is 15 mths... |

With your ticker, are you using a "2nd birthday" ticker or a "next birthday" ticker? A "2nd birthday" ticker should do his actual age. ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

Hmmm I had one of these - would wake and only settle with a feed. I went over to the Mothercraft unit and he was fixed in 2 nights by just ignoring him and giving him plenty to eat during the day and 2 good sleeps! (sounds awful but works)
From what they said over there and they are pretty experienced - Most babies that are having three lots of solids and three good bottles/breast feeds are fully capable of sleeping through and self settling. It is mostly just bad habits that they have picked up or we have got them into apparently! Make sense? -------------
