Palmy people, help me out here! DH and I have decided it would be nice to go out for coffee and dessert on the weekend but I can't think of where? I don't like Cafe Cuba, and there's Barrista and Moxies on George St, anywhere else of good repute? Has to be open in the evenings.

We usually do coffee and dessert too, as we can't afford dinners.
Have you tried Cocos in Downtown, they do fancy hot chocolates. For restaurants I can recommend The Gallery, Rendezvous up Ruapehu Dr.

Don't like Moxies (had a bad experience there with a hot chocolate, or should I say a weak flavoured hot water), Barista is nice but pricey. Rendezvous up at the new SummerHill complex haven't been too yet, my parents have so i'll ask mum tonight but that is a bit out of your way and I think they are pricey.

Sorry Nic! lol

Anyone tried Ambiente? Their mains are between $17 (roast) and $28 so now I'm thinking of going there for dinner.

(Women's perogative and all that )

You're thinking of Ambitions Becks, which seems very highly priced for students Ambiente is part of the Carramar Motor Inn opp the hospital, they do bunh/lunch/dinner/dessert & coffee so I thought it might be nice to try them out - never been there before.

Interested in the Ruapehu Drive one for sometime though, it's not listed in the yellow pages (haven't checked white) but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Oh yep I know the one tha you are talking about now. no haven't been there. The place up SummerHill hasn't been open long enough for the phone book. The phone book closes in Feb and we get it in May go figure.

If you want their details PM me, we supply their milk. The chef used to be at The Gallery and Sage.

I've dinned at Ambitions for lunch i thought it was lovely, cheap and the service is fantastic as the students are graded. I think i spent less than $20 on a 3 course lunch and coffee.
