Mercedes had her 3rd MenzB shot yesterday, and this morning she woke up covered in a rash of tiny pink spots. It's all over her body, except her arms and legs, and is on her face and up under her hair as well.
She's perfectly happy, no fever etc. and I rang my doctor, the nurse is going to see her later on today but she said she doesn't think it was caused by the MenzB.
Has anyone else's baby had this?

Are they raised or do they look like they are under the skin?

It looks exactly like a heat rash. Except it's not hot, not even anywhere near hot. It's very odd.
They're not raised either, it almost looks like exczema but without the scaly, dry patches

it doesnt have to be hot, but if her body was too hot? she might have over heated last night. i remember toby getting heat rash not long after he was born and that was in july. it was freezing and i was so embarrassed that he had heat rash. anyway it turned out to be what i was dressing him in...it was the velour bodysuit.

Probably heat rash from overwarm dressing or have you recently put her in a woolen singlet? That's the only thing which gives me heat rashes nowadays.

Well we saw the doc and she said it's a reaction to the MenzB, she said its an unusual way for her to react, but as she's got no other symptoms (fever, grouchiness etc.) then that's the most likely explanation. She said it doesn't mean we shouldn't give her the fourth dose tho, just that I should discuss it with the allergy paed when we see her in a few weeks, and that they will monitor her closely after her next dose.
This is what it looks like on her back...
ETA: the dark spot on one side is whats left of the blister type thing she had on her nappy line, it's all flaky and peely now Funnily enough I was holding Sienna and the nurse was holding Mercedes and another nurse came in and said "oh dear, you can see she has much more sensitive skin than her sister, look at the exczema on her face". Gee thanks, like I hadn't noticed.

Ugh that's way too much to be a heat rash. Hope it's not bothering her too much and it clears soon.

Oh Emma your poor wee girl. Just out of interest has she reacted to any of the shots before this one? Samantha is booked in to have her 6 week shots tomorrow and I am trying to decide whether to get her the MenzB or not.

Nope, no reaction to any of the others. I did hear today tho that the third dose is stronger than the earlier doses, not sure how accurate that is, but my doctor told me some babies react to one dose and not to any of the others, or to three and not the other one etc. Very odd. I'll have a word to the allergy paed about it when we see her, but I wouldn't call it a 'serious' reaction, certainly not life threatening.
Incidentally we decided against starting the MenzB at 6 weeks and started it at 12 weeks instead. Have a chat to your doctor, I asked mine "what would you do if it was YOUR child" and she said she'd immunise, but delay it so that's what we did.
