ten or fifteen years or so ago now, DOES NOT entitle you to the customer with baby carparks. *rant over*

| I've never used a baby carpark when I wasn't travelling with my baby... But when I was pregnant, I really wished they had "expectant mum" carparks. Especially at the mall on a Saturday morning!!! |

And just because you have a carseat strapped in the car, a baby on board sign BUT no baby in tow, does NOT entitle you to use one either!
I agree with the 'expectant mum' carparks! There should be more around. |

ok i will NOW share what DH did at the hamilton ohbaby meet up....
he left us to go into town and when he came back he just missed out on a PWP park....but got a normal one next to it....anyways the MAN who parked in PWP right in front of him had no child etc - so DH told him he was parked in a PWP .... well the guy had a disability park card...and told DH that there were none left so he would park in a PWP park if you please!!!...OMG DH ripped into him and told him that if there were no Dis parks does that mean parents can park there - NO!!! so why should he park in PWP... umm.... the guy called DH an A##H***..... I told DH off (kinda) but then also agreed with him - DH uses his size to intimidate but then the guy should not get to park in PWP just cause he is disabled surely???? I was pretty annoyed too esp as it probably meant one of our mums missed out on a carpark (right outside the entry to the mall!)...PWP are not a disable carpark overflow!!!! |

Or if you are pregnant. Yes you will have a baby soon enough but not at the moment. That one got me today at the supermarket, pouring with rain and I had to car my baby n a carseat all the to the door when I could of parked there and not get him wet. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

i dont like people parking in disabled parks who arent disabled but really dont mind if others park in parents with prams parks...it's only a courtesy park not a given or law that only parents with prams can park there... on the other hand tho people should be more aware and not park there if they dont need to or just so they dont get wet or something silly.

| countdown botany had parents AND expectant mothers parking - and had i not been worried that my new car would be scratched up the other day i would have given the drunk looking man in 50s no children who parked in the PWP park a piece of my mind....I only didnt report him inside cause he would have known which car reported him!!!  I disagree. I concur with Katherine et al, it would have been so nice not to have to drag my hugely pregnant self from one end of the carpark to another when the busy malls were enough of a challenge as is.

I have to say I don't entirely agree with you on the pregnant ladies Mummy_becks, I used the Parents with Prams parking at Lynnmall when I was in the last few weeks of pregnancy with the gremlins because I was physically unable to walk all that far and they were closer. I've never used a parents with prams park without the kids. Altho I do get some funny looks at Countdown coz I park the car, then have to go and get the twin trolley so people watch me get out of the car and head for the shops and give me evil looks, til I reappear with the twin trolley and start unloading my mobile kindergarten  ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

the problem with expectant mums parking is that then you get mums of all stages of pregnancy wanting to use them (not all but some no doubt) and then you would get those that dont look pregnant yet getting "the look".

it annoys us, but DF now wont park in them mainly cuase they are always used by non pregs or people without children in their car. it is annoying esp with a toddler and being nearly ready to pop and you have to walk all teh way from across the other side of the carpark (we dont like their underground parking the ramp is to tiring for my poor legs to walk up lol).

I can remember not so long ago DH leaving a note on someones car as they had parked so close to ours We could only use the drivers side of the car to get in, so yes to wider parks.
There is nothing worse than having to walk in the rain with a young bubs to then find out the parks that were meant for you have been taken up by people being lazy. Yep! I know I shouldn't, but I can't help but snigger to myself when I see women out doing the grocery shopping with one baby and hubby in tow. I find it amusing that they think shopping with ONE baby is too much to handle on their own when I do it with three kids on my own all the time. But when they use the P & C parking I get a bit annoyed coz surely between the two of them they can cope. Because I need a twin trolley and can't carry both babies at the same time I have to leave them in the car while I go and get a trolley. I can see them the whole time, but it's a PITA when I have to park waaay over the other side of the carpark and trek over to get a trolley and back to get the gremlins. ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)

Yeah its fine when you are due. I can understand that cos I know I would of used them too if I was fully pregnant and just needing to go in a get something, but this girl (and she was very young) was only about 20 weeks pregnant. Surly she could of parked in another park. And the other one that gets me with the parks is people parking in them and then leaving their children in the car. I pulled into the one at Countdown yesterday and next to me in the parent park was a baby (in a capsule), a child in a carseat and what looked to be a child about 5-8 sitting in the back (probably looking after them all). ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Ahhh... guilty! Only when I'm getting one or two specific things, and it would take more time to get the boys out of their carseats and put them into a trolley, then take them out at the end and put them back into their carseats than it takes me to run into the supermarket! I know its a lazy habit, and the only reason I do it when Kiya is in the car is because Ohakune is such a small place... ------------- Becca, mum of 2 girls & 3 boys |

I can undersand that Becca, but this car was in the cupermarket longer than me and I was in there for about 20 minutes (I was gossiping with a friend, then was running late to get DH and Andrew opps). They've got some great wide carparks down here in the new(ish) mall. You can park within the white lines and still have room next to the car to have the pram safely there inside the white lines and the door wide open and unbundle your kid(s). But that's only in a couple of places in the carpark. All the rest of the PWP parks are normal sized.

i havent found many carparks wide enough for my bump & me lol.
coming out of the midwifes yesterdaqy trying to get haleigh into her carseat was a mission the person next to us parked so close i couldnt even slide in the door without having to bang the door on their car. mind you queensgates not all that bad but we dont go in there often, i go in there more on my own walking. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

When I have DH in tow I like to save the parent parks for those more "in need" lol. Although since Kryssi turned 2 mos the only times he's been with me was when I was on crutches LOL.
Becks when I'm pregnant - or at least when I was pg the first two times - I didn't carry all that big or forward, sometimes it's hard to tell whether people need to use special parks or not. If I was particularly nauseous and the carpark fairly full, I probably would feel entitled to the option of a parent park - not within the 'letter of the law' but it's a discretion thing. Still, I do feel that those parks get abused a lot. ------------- |
