My little man is about to hit the 9 week mark and for the last couple of weeks has not wanted to have a nap at all in the day. I have tried putting him to bed when he starts to show his tired signs put after a couple of minutes starts crying and wont settle unless you pick him up. We have tried to leave him where he is and cry to see if he would settle and this has not worked either.
He will cat nap if you are holding him or sleep if out driving or you take him for a walk him in the stroller (wont do it if you push him in the house).
Should I be worried that he is not sleeping during the day and wont go to sleep before 10pm/11pm at night?

HUGS!! This is such a hard stage.
My girl was just the same - she would scream/cry each time I put her down and I could only get her to sleep in the car/buggy. To cut a long story short, I discovered it was silent reflux and we spent many days at the Waikato family centre and they helped me with settling techniques and a strict feed/play/sleep routine.
I have learnt that babies need their sleep. It was a really hard time with lots of crying (both her and me) but she now settles herself to sleep, but will still only do 45 minutes (1 1/2 hours if I'm REALLY lucky) but I've learnt to live with the short naps, but at least she's having sleep!!
If you are interested, Maureen at the Family Centre is soooo fantastic!! They saved me and made me realsie that being a mum is enjoyable and I now have them to thank for such a settles baby on a good routine.
PM me if you want her phone number
Hope this helps

i would agree, babies do need more sleep than that, but getting them to realise that is easier said than done. try those sleep centres or the Oh baby sleep expert apparently is great!

Hi it sounds like my silent reflux baby days too. If he's showing tired signs then he definitely needs sleep. If he has silent reflux it will basically hurt his tummy to be laid flat on his back, and he will prefer to sit in a car-seat position. That's probably why he will fall asleep on you, in the car or in the buggy. It may just be a habit but at that young my bet is on reflux. Try out Plunket first and if they can't help then take him to the Doctor.
