We might have to sell my beloved petrol baby We just worked out that it uses 17 ltrs per 100kms (our old Coronna used 10 ltrs )
Anyways, DH suggested looking into getting a people mover/soccor mom type car. I don't mind the look of these but how good are they fuel wise?
I think my Rav4 does about 350kms on a full tank

My mum has one of these and finds it very economic. If you don't like the look of the mummy vans a Honda might be the way to go as they are less of a van and more of a station wagon.

I've just started looking at Statiion Wagons too.
We need something cheap to run but big enough for Caitlin's "pimp ma ride" buggy (a bit bigger than the average 3 wheeler) it only JUST fits in the back of my Rav (5 door)

I've got a 2005 Honda CRV, very styley, not an ugly ppl mover, sorry, no offense, but I really really hate them! LOTS and LOTS of boot space, we fit our big 3 wheeler and toddler seat and groceries... I LOVE my car..

Mum had one of the first Odysseys when they released them here in the mid 90's, as people movers go they're pretty good. I set out to get one when I bought the car I have now, but ended up with the Nissan Presage coz the back seats split which meant I could get the supersize me buggy in the boot. Does about 450km to a full tank, similar to my VW which isn't bad considering the VW was a 1.8 and the Presage is a 2.2.

*runs off to search for a CRV*
I LOATHE people movers - no offence as they have their place in the world, but how could I go from my beloved shiny (when washed - rarely LOL)black RAV4 with tinted windows and all the boy racer goodies a girl could wish for to a *big gulp* people mover

We have just brought a people mover (ahem), and although it took some getting used to I now love it. We have a white 1997 Mitsubishi Chariot Grandis, It's not a huge people mover looks more like a station wagon on steroids. Ours has the standard tinted windows and front spoiler etc. We looked at the Honda Odyssey but this one looked a bit sharper and smaller. Will find out or economic it is. Our Honda packed up and with three grwoing kids it was just a natural prgression.
Hubby has big plans to get mags etc as he has seen some done up and reckons they look a little less soccer mum.

he did what?!?!? grr naughty DH! My DH wouldn't dare (not if he wants to be able to father more babies! )
I need to find a car that's really ME, even though I'll be 30 *sobs* next month I don't feel old enough to own a people mover! lol
I've just had a trawl through trade Me Motors and the Toyota Ipsum is kinda nice (even found one with leather seats for under $15k ) should probably check our budget before setting my heart on anything just yet LOL

have u thought about going diesel....we just swapped cars - well the truck for a slightly smaller 4 x 4 but running costs have been halved by going for a diesel...even with the miles...
BTW i HATE people movers too...refuse to get one!!!

The CRV is a 2.4 VTec all wheel drive, we get about 4 or 5 hundy K's to a tank of gas, roughly. I've got the spot model. I wanted a RAV, but to be honest, we drove the 2005 RAV and the 2005 CRV and it was NO CONTEST, the CRV is much zippier, waaaaaaaay roomier and handled nicer on the open road (we travel a fair bit)We can get 3 carseats across the back, and loads of legroom in the back as well, and it looks styley. I was trading my honda civic sedan in for an MX5 for my 30th birthday when we found out Jake was coming, so I didn't even want tog o down the station wagon road either (unless it was an Audi as they look styley but hell dare to fix, apparently)

Its a 7 seater but looks now where near a people mover. Unfortunatley it has a nice BIG price tag to go with it
