By "nipular", I mean, of course, thrush of the nipples... Just trying to make it sound more Grey's Anatomy.

My reason for posting is that I've got thrush -- my left nipple has thrush, to be precise (and give you all a good healthy dose of Thursday-afternoon TMI). I'm fairly certain I caught it from Emma Rose's thrush-ridden bottom, in a roundabout way which the GP couldn't clearly explain to me. (Meaning, Em weaned about 5 months ago, so I didn't get it from her mouth. How it got from her bottom to my boob is the mystery.)

I've got the delightful anti-fungal cream, which the pharmacist took it upon himself to explain to me in a very graphically detailed manner how to apply -- in front of six other people waiting in the queue -- but what else can I do to get rid of it?

Come on, share your thrush experiences. Make me feel less like a freak!

Hey there,

I had thrush a couple of weeks ago. It was quite painful to breastfeed. Although you won't have that problem. Zoe had it in her mouth and it spread to her bottom and then I picked it up. I was given a gel and it cleared up pretty quickly.

I had the same experience as you, the pharmacist took it upon himself to explain in detail when the chemist was packed. And he didn't keep his voice down so everyone stopped and looked.

UV light is really good for killing the yeast bugs. I think white vinegar is also good. I think you mix it with water and swap it onto yourself.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help

I can't help with treatment, but can offer a worse place to have it... the mouth, as an adult and having the pharmacist explain about treatment of mouth thrush to an adult is just horrible as everyone in the pharmacy was sure I had got it in some dodgy manner (when it was from asthma medication)

I hear you, ladies! WHY can't they just ASK me if I need an explanation of how to apply/use/take whatever it is, giving me the opportunity to say, "No thanks, the GP already told me"? Or print out the instructions on a handy reference sheet and shove it in the bag with the meds? (sigh)

Poor you Katherine! I got it repeatedly after I had Ella.
I also got the booming graphic instructions in a packed pharmacy!
Must be how the pharmacists get their giggles!
If you can, go topless in the sun for a bit, and avoid using any soaps or moisturisers on them until its all cleared up.
Hope it's all better soon chicky!

I had it as well with Andrew. Didn't matter how often he had the stuff put in his mouth and on me it was a circle going round and round. haven't had it yet with Josh *touch wood* hope I don't get it.

Oh and my pharmacist told me i shouldnt be using the stuff while PG when specialist had done a prescription etc....and yes - in front of people!!! I think they take pleasure from doing that! and at like 8 months pregnant at the time I could haveecared less what i stuck up where so long as it cleared it up...ummm it didnt!!!
