I hope I'm allowed to ask this! Any way, I'm in the process of updating the website (yet again!) not the layout, but the info and pictures. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures that they would be interested in contributing to the website of their kids in their car seats? (booster seats etc included). One condition, they need to be used correctly LOL.
If anyone would be able to help, I'd appreciate it SO much! You could PM me a link or email me through the link below
ETA: Oh I also thought I'd add to you guys, I might not be able to make use of every single picture but I will try my best so don't be disappointed if I don't use it but do know that I am very thankful for your contribution! :)

Sure thing, I'll have to warn you though, I am completely AN*L about tight, straight harnesses etc lol. (lead by example rah rah rah).
Hey btw, I'm really sorry I didn't catch up with you before we left! X was having a fit LOL

No worries! We didn't leave till after 3pm!
I'll make sure all the harnesses are straight etc.! Coz of the way I have their seats jammed in there's no room for movement sideways etc. and the tether strap goes over to the bolts on the floor in the boot. Will try and find the pic I took for multiple birth club, otherwise will take a new one...

Found it! Will take some better ones where you can actually see the carseats/straps etc. tomorrow. This one was just to show the MBC people how I put them in and out thru the boot.

Oh, that looks a bit odd, is the strap only coming over from one side of the seat? and not both? (or am I just tired from going up and down that damn hill with the slide today LOL)

No you're not imagining things, you just can't see the other side of the strap, it's just outside the frame of the pic, I had to take it at that angle to get them both in You can kinda see it on the far right side of Mercedes car seat, no idea how Sienna's one managed to evade the camera tho!

Good plan Batman! We could take pics at the same time!
I suspect the strap on Sienna's had probably slipped sideways coz I had taken the pram out to avoid it falling out on my toes while I took the photo and the anchor points are behind where the pram sits.

You should do a thread (this is just a suggestion, despite my wording ) saying post your pics here... then give us feedback and select your few choices for the website. I bet mine aren't exactly correct but I'm not travelling to Auckland to find that out LOL!

Hehe, it's a nice idea but I don't want to make it in to a competition hehe Not all the pictures will be able to be used but it's good to have them there if I do ever need them as it's so hard to get pictures of kiddies in their seats - most people aren't weird like me and take lots of pics of their kids in seats

ooh can i treadjack and have a big vent here? i took the car in to get a new anchor bolt installed for the tether bolt, and they turned jordis's car seat around!!! the weather was appalling and i had to muck around trying to get it to face the right way again. i was so angry and was nearly in tears because i couldnt get it undone to turn it around, i thought i was going to be stuck with the kids in town until i could get it sorted. blardy mechanics! i have to go back on tuesday so i will be telling them about the rules and requirements, and what they did wrong.
i will take a pic of my princess too ;) never thought of taking a car seat pic though!

Hey CRS, where are you in Auckland? We just bought the Safe N Sound Meridian AHR (wanted to get the safest of the safe car seat before I turned her forward facing). DH fitted it as he is a mechanic-y type person but I would love to get a professional to check it to make sure all is 100%
Also, we're having a nightmare of a time with the straps twisting around! Is there any advice/gadgets to stop this?
ETA: Also need to talk to you about adding head protection to the one we got through Plunket, just have to find out the brand etc. This will be used as the spare in my parent's car, but again I want to make it super safe before I let them turn it around in their car

Ella's in her new Safe'n'Sound now, but I do have 2 pics of her in the capsule last summer - before and after shots if they're of any use to you!! I put one up here of how I found her at the end of a trip (very uncomfy) and asked people to look at it and tell me what I'd done wrong - ended up visiting a Safe2go technician who put me right (and oh my goodness even though we thought we'd followed all the written instructions to a T, we sooo didn't have it right! Then I took a pic of the seat after I'd sought professional help! I'll e-mail them to you.

It's not a substitute for having your car seat professionally installed but I definitely don't mind if people would like to do that, they just still need to know that even if I can't see anything wrong, it's not a 100% that it's ok IYKWIM? If people want to, sure, go ahead :)

Sorry to threadjack - we've got a Cosco Touriva carseat (which is one of the plunket ones I think Toni was talking about). It's not hugely padded & I can't find anywhere here in Auckland that stocks the pillows that Cosco do to go in them. Is it ok to use a sheepskin liner inside the carseat to provide a wee bit of extra padding or is that not really advised??

No, you can't add anything to it and definitely not a sheepskin. If you were really at a pinch you could put one chux cloth (you know, the yellow wipes for the bench) under the cover in that little rough area at the bottom of the back. That's about all you can do, definitely don't add a sheepskin and only one of the chux cloths, if you're really desperate maybe 3-ish layers.

Oh ok thanks for that. I just didn't know whether it was padded enough at the head & if there was anything I could do to make it a bit softer. Friends of ours stopped suddenly in their car & their bub ended up with a bit of a head injury. They had him rearward facing in one of these carseats & some car seat expert they met told them that those car seats are no good because there's not enough padding in them & they don't think Plunket should be endorsing the Cosco seats through the trust scheme in West Auckland. Now it's got me a bit concerned because I'd hate for anything like that to happen to Matthew.

I'm not sure what "expert" said that but I really wouldn't worry about it. They pass a safety standard, just like any other seat sold in the country. If your friends baby ended up with a head injury, it's most likely because their car seat wasn't installed properly, not because of the car seat itself. There's loads of car seats that have little to no padding on them, not just the Cosco Touriva. Personally I have nothing against the Cosco Scenera (which took over the Touriva), easy to install, so far as I know isn't uncomfortable AT ALL (my good friend uses one for her son) and is very affordable. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Cosco seats.
ETA: It's the padding on the lower back that tends to be the issue with the Touriva, not the head.

I think I know who you guys mean but I don't know if it was her - I do remember my friend saying that this lady was reasonably old, like about 70 or so? Who knows, it could be the same person.
I looked at Matt's carseat again last night & now that you've mentioned about the lower back of that carseat having hardly any padding, I can see what you mean. I'd never noticed that before. It doesn't seem to bother him though - he doesn't get marks like kell said Kayla does - so I think I'll just leave it alone.

I wouldn't worry too much. If it's just the ONE thin flat white nappy and not one of those toweled ones it shouldn't be TOO bad, but hey, if it worries you then definitely remove it. Usually though, a couple layers of those yellow chux cloths are enough to pad it out a little.

Ahhh yes I thought so LOL. It's a little too reclined. He's old enough now, you can take the towel out. You only need a good recline for newborns who have no head control and their heads flop forward and cut off their airways. This shouldn't be a problem for a 7 month old, the older they are, the more upright you can have the seat. Try a towel with half the thickness or take it out altogether :)
