Good luck, I quit just before getting pg so that was a good motivation. It's a hard one to get over isn't it? But I wish you all the best

Good luck Luana! It's so hard isn't it?!
I gave up when I got pregnant with Sam. Since having him I haven't even thought about smoking. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
I think if I didn't have Sam I would still be smoking, lots of people said I should give up and that I just had to get over my addiction and work through it, but the fact was that I enjoyed smoking. I didn't do it because I HAD to, I did it because I wanted to. That makes it quite hard I think.
Stick at it girl and you will get there! I know it's bloody hard, but soon enough you won't even remember what smoking is like and you'll wake up one morning and realise that you haven't even thought about smoking for ages! The first bit is so hard though because it's all you can think about and it's so easy to just grab a smoke and it sucks that if you haven't smoked for a day or two, when you do give in and have one, it's sooooooooooooo good!
Another thing I found was that prior to getting pregnant I had cut down a whole lot. I did it really slowly, just cutting out maybe one a day, then the next week cutting out one more.
Good luck!

Good on y a for quitting smoking. I gave up when I found out that I was pregnant....(ok well I cut down to 1 smoke a day, up until I had my first scan) As soon as I saw my little boy on that screen it all sunk in for me and I haven't touched a smoke since (so over a year now). So for about 2 weeks I smoked just once a day, and then no more after that. Dont think I'll ever go back to that dirty habit. I just think of my son and thats all the motivation I need!. Hmmmmm wish the same could be said for DP, can't wait til he gives up smoking!!

good luck with the quitting smoking, it can be so hard, but once you are through the first tough bit it will get easier. just keep telling yourself that it will never be as hard as it is today. before you know it you will be a reformed smoker who gets to make all sorts of snarky comments to other smokers

Good luck with it coming from an ex smoker (I love to say that now). I have not had a smoke in almost 2 years ( I quit on the 18th of October 2005 and I celebrate that date last year and I will again this year). I was silly and the first time I quit was the day i found out I was pregnant with Andrew and I started again the day I stopped BF him. Just keep a focus thing out for you so that you know what you are doing it for. I had a necklace that I wanted that was a bit pricey so I cut it out of the mailer put it on the fridge and all the money I spent on smokes went on that and I have it. Took a few months (so you can imagine how expensive it was ) but I got it and love it.
