I mean, who are your favourite singers and bands?

Me? The Smiths are my most favourite band of ALL time and I have their whole back catalogue. and of course Morrissey as a solo artist, David Bowie, Sufjan Stevens, Bob Dylan, The Decemberists, Ryan Adams, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, The Killers, Muse, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Depeche Mode, Jeff Buckley, The Arcade Fire, Radiohead, The Cure, The Clash, Portishead, Pink Floyd..

And my guilty pleasure - My Chemical Romance.

Bands/music I dislike - U2, The Foo Fighters, AFI, Panic At The Disco, Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls, RAP music in general.. LOTS MORE.

At the moment it is Mika.  Then there is Bryan Adams, Robbie Williams, The Beatles, Savage Garden, Metellica (sp?), Coldplay, Tatu, Baby Face, Cat Stevens, Ronan Keating, Garth Brooks, Hoobastack, and UB40.

It is interesting to see what other people enjoy, as some of it is old, and brings back memories!!!!

Good idea Renee, this is rather FUN!

Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Jethro Tull, Bob marley, Cat stevens, Loius Armstrong, The doors, John Lennon, Johnny Cash, Black Sabbath thats a bit of the old stuff I can think of.

Newer stuff would be Fear Factory, Lamb of God, Zyklon, Dog Fashion Disco, Pantera, Metallica, Dr Dre and co, Tupac, Bone thugs, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Offspring, Korn, Missy Elliot and Annie De Franco.

I love my rock, U2, smashing pumpkins, PEARL JAM, foo fighters, NIRVANA, coldplay, the exponents, the chilis, metallica, disturbed (David, the lead singer is my free pass!), korn, radiohead, linkin park

The only stuff I don't like is rap. IMHO its so offensive and they can't even use proper english (like one recent song 'can I buy you a drank' or something like that) and a song about a girl's lipgloss? Honestly

Hehe, my DH is in to harder rock than me but we've toned down a lot since getting engaged and married.

I'm pretty eclectic, my CD collection ranges all the way from Elvis Presley to Tupac, Guns N Roses to Kenny Rogers.
Tupac is my second biggest influence as a writer after Maya Angelou, I'm not neccessarily a rap fan, I just like the social context of his stuff. Most of the newer hip hop doesn't impress me and I agree with Emz, that Lipgloss song is just fecking stupid.
My brother runs a punk/metal record label in Sydney and I do his PR so get quite a few promo CD's sent over, most of his artists are Canadian and they have some pretty cool stuff in the vein of Green Day and Fallout Boy. I really like Green Day.
Also a big fan of '80s rock like GnR and Metallica, and early 90's grunge like Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, and I guess Green Day comes into that category as well.
And I like the music I grew up with, stuff like Elvis, and the Eagles, and Harry Chapin, and Cliff Richard, Elton John, Billy Joel....
The only things my Dad listens to that I really never learnt to appreciate are the crooners (Frank Sinatra ) and the Shadows (I don't get music without lyrics?)

Well you asked!

I LOVE rock music, its my passion. I especially love "hair rock", the daggy sounds of the 80s and 90s, (Def Lepp, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) (they still rock), Chilli Peppers, Metallica, Motley Crue, Korn Also Incubus, Deftones, Powderfinger, Jet, Hoobastank.. So many, so many. I also love Fleetwood Mac, (Ah, stevie nicks, I used to channel your fashion sense and tortured soul)Dixie Chicks, Pink Floyd, Ryan Adams, PINK (I love her) Placebo, Brides of destruction, Ah, I can't think, so many. I really love Kiwi dub sounds of Black Seeds and Salmonella dub. Robbie Williams is my fave hottie and ROCKED live, as did DUran Duran, who I have loved since I was 10 and being able to flash my boobies at John Taylor was a life goal I have achieved.!

So I'm a bit of a D&B girl, happy house and Salmonella Dub etc, anything to get your groove on to . DH calls it "doof doof"
It's only when the music topic comes up that I'm very aware of the 7 year age gap between me and DH. His fav band is ACDC

I can't be arsed typing the stuff that I like but just wanted to express a big @ Tobin's music. (Well sorta) He's very very into heavy metal... like the screaming (can't understand what they say) type (Melln, you and him may get along... he's very into obscure metal bands but I do notice Killswitch Engage on his play list)

I may be blind but I've not seen Kings of Leon listed anywhere... Yummo! I love them.

Umm, I'm a raver, and used to do a lot of promo work for dance parties and the such. I'm *really* into my hard house, hard trance, trance, electro, breaks and house, D'n'B.

Fave DJs would be: K90, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes, Technikal, BK, Paul Glazby, Darren Styles, Illogik, Miss Behavin', Steve Hill, Armin van Burren, Tiesto, John O'Callaghan, Ferry Corsten, Benny Benassi, Above and Beyond, Pendulum... That's just off the top of my head.

I love Shapeshifter, Concord Dawn, Fat Freddy's, Salmonella Dub, Black Seeds.

And then I'm into my rock and obscure eclectic world kinda stuff (the kinda funky tunes you hear in cafe environments).
Kings of Leon, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Muse, Mute Math, Zero 7, Buddah Bar, Cafe Del Mar.

I have a very, very diverse taste. Haha.

I love P!nk, she's my hero. Hahaha, yes... I idolise her. And she held my hand (the one that has the tattoo on her wrist) for a brief moment during her Wellington concert in 2003 (? Can't remember exactly. I was 14 though)... I was right in front of the stage and she reached out to grabs hands etc... My friend that I went with didn't talk to me for the rest of the concert because she was so jealous. Hahahaha, always loved her, always will. She's my kinda gal

MUSE! MUSE! MUSE! MUSE! Actually, I do dig other bands/artists but they're my fave. Went to their concert in Akld when I was 5 months preggers with Ems - it was awesome - rockin' out with my bump.

My music taste is quite diverse but other faves are David Bowie, Radiohead, Portishead - into all sorts really - anything from hard rock to classic rock to hip hop (but not really into the so-called hip hop you hear these days, more into the older stuff from the late 80s early 90s) to middle of the road pop (if it doesn't grate me). Really loving the Kiwi music, whatever genre they're all pretty good to listen to especially Kora - but I can't stand that band with the three guys can't remember they're name but they did that annoying song "Running" and another one about "light surrounding you" BLEUAGH - The aussies can have 'em. What I can tell you I also DON'T LIKE is boy bands (eg Westlife ), girl bands (eg pussycat dolls ), people who have been around far too long for our liking and really should just STOP (eg Kylie and Madonna) and, of course, Britney Spears.

I agree.
I would also ad Rap, Hip Hop, R & B to my dislikes.

I DO NOT dislike Classical. I have much respect for it. Cause err, basically we wouldnt have music like we do today if it wasn't for those great composers.

Country on the other hand is simpleton's music
