I'm curious to know if you tell your friends and rellies about OB? Or are you too embarrassed? For me, when I relay info from people on here I say "a friend of a friend said..." (or a friend if it's someone I feel I know kinda well). And there's NO WAY I'd point my rellies (sis etc) in this direction because it's my "safe venting/talking spot" LOL
What about you?

Dh knows the site (bugger!!!)
Mum knows i chat online...but not sure of sites
Friends and work etc know i talk to other "mums" online but not sure of sites...
dont really want to share with them cause i like some anonymity on here and being able to vent...
I also met DH online - something about his love of water / sea attracted me....back when it was all scary and new and getting engaged meant we told everyone the truth of how we met - had told a few oldies at my work etc that we met in a coffee shop and they couldnt work that one out at all....when truth came out they didnt really care cause everyone knew him and knew we were a perfect match!

Im the same as you teresa, I dont really tell anyone. Not because Im embarassed but because i dont want them coming online and seeing what I write, its a place I can vent and gossip. Its almost like an online diary, I know you guys are reading but dont want others to if that makes any sense at all.

Yep I tell people, they know that I used to be on NZWP and that I met heaps of girls from that site, and they know that some of those girls are now on this site. I'm not sure if they've ever come on to find me though... it wouldn't worry me if they did.

Ditto, Danni!!!
And ditto, Ana and BS - DH and I met online and my mum felt she had to lie to her family about how we met as she was afraid how some of them may take it. I told her that I didn't want to have to keep up that lie/fib and told them the truth. They were fine with it! I admit, I'm still a little bit embarassed to admit it to people I don't know well, but most people take it fine! We're happily married with a baby, so things worked out well didn't they?!

I tell some people but like you a few of you I don't tell them the name of the site as this is my home and I don't really want them to see what I have to say.
I still remember that Holmes episode BS the txt's that got sent in were nasty.

Another ditto here as to how I met my DH!! Initially I was embarrased about it because it wasn't really the norm back then, and so I told a couple of porkys about how we met to a few people But now, I just spit it out and people either say "oh me too" or they don't bat an eyelid cause it's pretty common now. Plus, I'm a geek and people often expect me to only be sitting in front of a computer all day anyway..
As for this sort of site, I don't tend to give specific site names just because of the whole not wanting everyone I know to read some of the stuff I type.

Now I wonder how many of you exactly he thinks are imaginary!! Heaven knows what he thought I was up to when I told him I was going to the Botany meet ups!

Don't be offended, but mostly you guys are my "geeky online friends" (but meant in the most loving way possible!) it's mostly just to take the piss out of myself
But yeah, I'm often commenting about how I have more friends online than I do in real life. Sad but true. (Except when you take into account who the geeky friends are - you all aren't so bad )

See DH and I met the conventional way but I don't really see the difference between normal dating and internet dating.
When DH and I went on our first date we didn't know a lot about each other having only known the other at work. Whereas on the internet so I have been told it's generally a lot of talking before the dating. Therefore providing the person has been honest you actually have an advantage. I personally think internet dating is romantic good on those that have done it.
Back on topic I have told a few people about OhBaby but usually just say "a mate".

I met DF via the internet, turned out better than the usual way thru friends and at the pub.
I got onto this site via nz wedding planner.
DF uses online forums all the time to discuss his hobbies etc, and usually to buy stuff. Which is his only worry with OB as he thinks it will make me want lots of babies.. haha I haven't brought anything baby related yet! And i have friends babies to buy for, thats my excuse anyways.
The latest AWW mentions this site, and other internet communities.

Glad to hear we are all the same. DF knows all about OB and always asks "whats new on ohbaby" Mum knows and my workmates know there is a "internet forum with lots of info" but I dont think they know I would consider you guys my friends
I also kinda sorta met my DF online. Actually we met in third form and did high school together as nothing more than classmates but I was being brave and trying the internet dating and so was he and our profiles crossed...the rest is history. We tell people wemet up again through oldfriends.co.nz as it seemed more acceptable

I say "friends". And for those people who met online - it's better than saying "oh, yeah, we hooked up at a pub one night and figured, hey why not?"
my friend met his gf online and now they are expecting twin girls. she is american. He is the sweeetest guy I know (we have always see each other as brother and sister kinda)

Becks...yesh they went for the stalkers - was horrid for them.but we were in hawaii so didnt care!!!
Ginger - ROFL...OMG that is funny....poor BBS a mere internet figment??? LOL.....but i know what he means...
It has changed things with meetups now tho cause some of you have become "realife' friends and that changes the interaction from being just internet online friends - weird as shouldnt matter how we meet people but in some ways it does.not better or worst just differnt
but I love our meet ups - there are some awesome people on here...and getting to know you better and knowing some of our kids will grow up knowing one another because of it is cool...

I usually just say 'friend' if I am ever referring to anyone on here. People that I am close to (mum, sister, RL friends etc) know that I will usually mean someone from here cos you guys are pretty much the only people I "talk" to on a daily basis LOL!! OB is such a wealth of information and there is so much interesting conversation on here about all sorts of things that I can always pop someting in to a RL conversation that I have heard on here.

I have been wondering about this one too - I usually say a friend... or "that website that i go on..."
My family know about it, but don't know the name - I like knowing that I can say what I want on here and no one knows me IRL...
DH can't even turn the computer on, so I don't think he is likely to be coming on here...

I usually talk about people on here as my friends - not RL or internet, just friends. If I do mention it, I normally say a parenting website I chat on. I once told someone about this site specifically and that backfired - she told sis about it and then she read everything I wrote and threatened to tell ILs, husband etc, blah blah, got a bit messy for a while! So anyway won't be doing that again!

LOL! My DH is on here, I got him hooked when I started quoting all the jokes that went on during pages 85-105 of the due in March thread! Sometimes he just comes on to stalk my thoughts I think But I actually don't mind him being around on here, if I have any probs with him I bring it up with him anyway, and I haven't really needed to 'rant' about him for quite a while.

I dont mind people knowing I go online and I usually say Im meeting some of my online friend etc... and if i look at any other sites I'll mention them, Im just a bit protective of OB, I dont want anyone else coming on here and knowing my deepest, weirdest thoughts that I tell everyone.

Surprisingly, Liz, no. I actually held out with "hot rod"... He was "breaking up" with a defacto partner (messy story for a rainy day) when we "got together" - well , more decided we wanted to see each other again after spending some time getting to know each other one night over alot of CD beer at work...
AND, yep, Ana, it is funny, cos he's soooooo NOT "hot rod!" lol!!
