You know when you want something so bad you can taste it?

About an hour ago I had a sudden urge for chocolate cake, even considered bundling myself and Caitlin up in the car just to go to the shops to buy one. But sense kicked in and we didn't go. How could I turn up at the local Foodtown in this weather with my baby and buy JUST a choccy cake? *tut tut*

So, in a huff I scoured the pantry looking for anything that had a trace of coco in it.
What do I find? Coco Powder.... then baking powder... then flour... then sugar... vanilla essense (light bulb goes off in my head) runs to the fridge.... YES! I have eggs and milk *have died and gone to house wife heaven *

So there I am creaming my butter and sugar, just like it says in the Edmonds cookbook (I've finally found a use for this and am officially a Kiwi)

THEN.... Murphy calls!
Guess what I don't own - *drum roll please*

A CAKE TIN!

But then wait... I'm a grown woman, I was in the Brownies damn it! There must be something in the house that will serve as a cake tin!

I am now patiently waiting for my chocolate cake which is cooking in a....... *and another drum roll if you please*

a saucepan

I have all fingers and toes crossed that this works or else I'll cry!

And OMG You have 3mth old twins and are pregnant! Congrats, and yes, lets hope it's not another set, although your girls are adorable!

Don't bother about icing either - dust with icing sugar and serve warm with icecream.

Just as well I'm having a choc fondue night at my place tonight *smacks lips* LOL!

Hope it was yummy Toni. Good on ya for baking rather than buying!

I went to a friends this arvo and she was making orange cupakes but accidentally put 2 teaspoons of baking powder instead of 1. We thought it would be fine, but no - they puffed up huge and overflowed everywhere! The tray was like one big cupcake!!

CHECK IT OUT!!!! (and yes, that is a dinner plate)

I'm now using all of my strength to wait until it's cooled before I cover it with chocolate icing then strap it to my hips (might as well cut out the middle man aka My mouth )

lmao! No it didn't have a plastic handle! It would have melted all over the oven (and the cake, then I would have been really P'd off!)

The cake was ok. A bit crunchy on top because I had to cook it for double the time because it was deeper than a normal cake tin.
