How many of you get your kids to help you around the house, at what age, and what do they do?

Micheal 10 - puts the rubbish out every night
             sets the table
             clears the table
             Puts the boys clothes away

Jayden 5   -Puts the recycling out
            Wipes the table after meals
Puts mine and DH clothes in the bedroom

Abby 2.5 - Puts her clothes away
            Helps put the groceries away
            Puts clothes in the dryer

All the kids get pocket money for their jobs. Abby just likes helping so we let her.

They also have to tidy their rooms and the playroom each Saturday.

wow I really need to get my kids to put their clothes away too..
we've just started giving pocket money and the kids main jobs are putting the dishes away from the dish washer, setting the table, tidying their room (although this is a constant battle with miss9) and any other jobs we ask them to do.

josh is 14 so he does a bit more and he feeds the dog every day and gets wood in.

jake puts out the recycling and knows to put his bottle in the sink when he's finished, and to put rubbish in the bin. occasionally he 'washes the dishes" but this isn't really helping as it creates more of a mess - i call it training tho. jake also has a spray bottle of water for "cleaning the windows" - another training method. I'm trying to get him to clean up toys - thats our current mission.

Andrew will put all the washing in the washing basket, take the dishes out and put them on the bench. He knows to tidy his toys up after he has finished playing and before he goes to bed he tidies up his bedroom. Andrew also knows where the rubbish bin is and the recycling so often puts that away as well. As we have bene using spossies he will put them in the rubbish for us as well. And if we get him on a good day he brings wood in for the wood box.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Well at this stage bubs is helping washing floors. She throws a tantrum until I give the floor sweeper to her. She loves to help fold her own laundry.

So she doesnt really have chores but help me around the house. She also gives me pegs when I hang the clothes up.

Jack loves to help with everything although most of the time it makes the job longer.

Joey helps set the table and tidy up his books and toys. He also puts things in the rubbish if I tell him too (and sometimes also even if I don't - found his drink bottle in there this morning).

Jake "helps" by putting toys away, and is really excellent at putting away his playdo and the cutters. When he's had enuff, he puts the dough in the can and puts all the cuters in their bag, and says "helping". Cute! His fave job (he calls it "working") is bringing wood in from the wheelbarrow on the deck and dropping it into the wood basket. He will also help put away his clothes, quite good at this, and put his pjs away int he morning. He likes to go round and point out "mess" and "dirty"... just like his father...
