yeah we live on the waterfront and our house is getting hit hard. They have sent all except for skeleton staff home from my husbands work as SH1 will be closed soon. Watching the boats on their moorings is pretty freaky. Im hoping its not as bad as the last floods. High tide at our place is 3.29pm and i dont think it will be that bad. Well fingers crossed. Although our power nearly went out gulp....

our power has been off all afternoon. Just came on now. Thanks Emma for being so concerned and calling us. Makes me feel loved. Still very windy and the water just about to come through the back door. Front windows and doors are majorly flexing with the wind. I hope they hold up. Firetruck has been down our street to check on ppl.

Yep, it sure is wooly out there! I am so glad to see Willie home in one piece, he got stranded up at Redvale and couldn't dump his load after the power went out, and said his truck was all over the road on the way back in and there was nothing he could do to control it.
Our house is shaking with some of the gusts, but it looks way worse up north.
Batten down the hatches everyone!

Hope everyone is safe and sound up their should ring parents to see if their alright keep warm too and hope the floods don't get much worse than they already are.

I kind of miss those storms as we don't get them down here (priginally from Warkworth)can't even remember the last time we had a big storm we just get crappy ice and snow(although I do quite like the snow)

Keep safe Northlanders

just came back from a walk down the road. All neighbours garden sheds, glasshouses etc etc have been smashed. A pohutukawa tree (big tree) is fallen over. Its gone in between 2 houses so lucky no damage there. also other ppls tv arials all off. and this wind is still so wicked. The spray from the water is going about 4 stories up in the air.

We had no power from about 2.30 yesterday, and it seemed to come back on about midnight last night... Lost a very large branch off a Totara tree and blew a makeshift shed over, but other than that no major problems. Weather is alot clearer here today, hope it stays that way!

Wow what a few days we have had . we got off pretty lucky in Tikipunga . there are a few trees blown down , and signs blown over .we managed to to keep our roof on .... for a while then on sheet of iron decided it really wanted to fly , so there i was outside in the cold wet night holding the ladder so DP could nail the sheet back down , and thankfully it stayed there the rest of the night .

Yesterday morning we got up and DP wanted a shower but we had no hot water , the lovely power company turned the hot water off in my street , Thank goodness we have a mate the is a sparky who came and bypassed our meter box so we could have hot water .

Through out it all my little pumpkin either sleeps or played in the lounge unaware of what was going on with the weather .
