i think its a load of bollocks...!!! (excuse language)
we discussed the report - which is a british one and old and definitley not related to how things are done in NZ and possibly not even over there - http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8787 - here
and as to composting disposables... if i dont want those chemicals and stuff next to my babys bum why would i want them in my garden...

Yep, its all cr@p. Like Deb said its not relevant to NZ and the study was very flawed (do you iron your nappies?). Apparently it is being rehashed over in the UK but the way it is being worded here its like there is a new study out, but no, just the same old one. Sorry, but this just really, really annoys me.

That seems to be the view in Australia too. I was on an aussie forum (dont ask why...I hadnt found ohbaby then) and they were saying that they have heaps of space for landfills but water is short so it made more sense to use sposies. I thought it was total CRAP!!!
Basically the problem is babies sh*t too much but we love them and cant do anything about them. Its all about handling it the best we can.

TNN is working on a rebuttal at the moment but yeah it is a load of crap and doesn't take into account the production methods either.

A lady at TNN just posted this link to the Ministry for the Environment - good for an unbiased source and comes out in favour of cloth! Yahoo! http://www.mfe.govt.nz/issues/waste/special/nappies/ - http://www.mfe.govt.nz/issues/waste/special/nappies/
