Subject: Question about Imms Injection site

Alyssa had her last immunisation (4th MenzB) in mid-June, and I kind of just noticed that the spot where the injection went in still looks like a small bruise and there is a pea-sized lump under the skin as well... I'm sure her last lots of imms totally cleared up faster than this one which was about a month ago. She isn't in any pain from it and I can press it with no reaction so could it just be a scar formed or something?
Has anyone else noticed the same thing with any injection sites taking quite a long time to clear up?

I havent heard anything like it either for 1mth post imms. I have for the few couple of weeks after an imm and that is normally just pooling of the vaccine at the site (meaning the site in the muscle). If its not bothering her I would just keep an eye on it and it may clear up in another few weeks. If it changes in size (meaning bigger) or colour then take her to the nurse to get it checked.

I still have a lump on my arm from immusations i had when little, its like a pea size lump that doesnt hurt, although sometimes does get itchy.
if it still there when you are due for the next round then get the nurse to check it out.
I have also noticed that if the nurse gives Rhiannon her injections in the same spot everytime (which she is good at doing) then it takes longer for the lump to go down.
Rhiannon is now due for her 15mth injections so not looking forward to it

They are pretty much done in the same area Kazzle each time because it is the centain site for the injection to go. Wont be exactly same spot but for say the menzb injection: has to be done intramuscular and has to be inserted in the the 2nd third of the muscle to reach the 3rd third of the muscle for the vaccine to be given (less side effects on the site etc) hence why it seem to be the same place each time.

Elle had hers on Mon and the site is bruised and kinda hard but it's only been a few days so I guess that is normal. It seems to hurt as before I knew it was there I rubbed her leg whilst feeding her and boy did she scream. :(

We've now got the hard lump under the skin too. Is it common and does it take long to go down?

Most commonly it should settle within a few weeks but like what Alyssa has, it can take a wee while longer.
