I have given Krystiana her head, as it were, with having as much solids as she likes (about 3 tins/day) and few feeds as she likes (about 5/day)... and the good news is that she's sleeping thru to at least 5.30am

The bad news is that she's so constipated that she started crying tonight , she's been trying to push since yesterday so I started up the brown sugar today, hope that works for her soon (mixed about 2 teaspoons into a nearly full bottle, is that the right amount?).

Anyway, I'm not sure what to do for future feeds etc. How can I keep her 'soft' but keep up the solids? (She's only 6mos but she's a big girl and the sleeping thru the night thing tells me she needs to eat.) What are some good baby foods to keep her regular? I guess pear is in, banana is out, anyone know about pumpkin? she's not too keen on baby rice anymore.

Pureed prunes are good I also find that diluted orange worked good to I would juice from an orange and tripled the amount with water and James would have a few mouth falls of that for a few days and he would come right but the prunes did work best.

I had trouble with Blake with constipation...What I have found keeps him regular is the Watties Red Muesli in the box.. Mixed with really pureed pears from a tin in juice. The mix he has been having since prob 8 months is 5 -6 heaped teaspoons of that - huge TBSP of pureed pears and 150 - 200 ml of formula to mix..then I nuke it for 30 seconds and it goes all sloppy but he loves it. Works a treat. (what they recommended at Mothercraft) I also have been giving Blake juice mixed with half water in his sipper cup and he gulps that down. They say only give them water but I dont necessarily agree as they need good Vit C from somewhere if they not into eating lots of fruit. Plus none of us drink lots of water so he fits in.

Amazing how with the right amount of foods and feeds they sleep through aye..too stuffed & content to wake!!!
Mothercraft nurses swear by that!
Worked a treat for Blake.... :o)

Yep I can second that, really helps I just mix it in with her fruit for breakfast and it works by that evening. Word of warning tho, it works really well, so don't give it for 2 mornings in a row!!!!
Also check that all the stones are out before you puree it as they bugger the blender blade if you don't

We give pureed prunes every morning + some naturopath supplements but Elle stools are still very hard and hard to get out so for us constipation is an ongoing problem and nothing seems to soften her stools. Hopefully her body will settle down once she gets used to he volume of solids...most do :)

Brown sugar water used to make Caitlin go within the hour! lol It's not good to give them that all the time though. Prunes never worked for us but kiwi fruit mixed in yogurt is also an idea to try.

And lots and lots of water to keep it soft
