and I have no idea what to do with them

Do you peel them or leave the skins on?

Do you boil/steam/roast?

What do they even taste like?

Are they like a substitute for spuds and kumera?

Roasting is YUMMMY!!!!! they taste sweet but tangy. Almost citrussy. They are seriously yummy. When cooked they should be soft.

You can also boil them, or chop them into a stir fry.

Dont peel them.

I personally think they are best with a roast.

A substitute for spuds.....only if you are seriously deranged and dont see spuds as their own food group

ENJOY!!!!

Definitely roast them, they are just so yum, i am having some for tea tonight.

I usually drizzle a bit of oil over them then ad some crushed garlic and bake them,

Oh yum cant wait to have them. Df just loves them and before me he never knew they existed so you might just love them

I used to roast them at work with some orange juice, ginger and honey, it'll all turn to a syrup and coat them - mmmmmm - yum. I think they are best roasted and tend to go really well with citrus - as NZpiper said they are kinda citrusy themselves.

They are also great in a stirfry!

Agreed with all above - just one thing they take awhile to cook. Say 10-15 mins longer then same size of potato.
Hope you had a nice meal with them.

I was too scared to do anything with them tonight until I read what you guys had to say LOL

Mmmmm that honey, ginger and OJ sounds like the way to go with a stir fry *mouth is watering now*

Thanks ladies!

I have been meaning to buy some cos my friend gave me a recipe she swears by. She reckons you put them in a shallow dish, add brown sugar, butter and honey and bake them.

We just boil them up and eat them! I love yams. Haven't tried them roasted - they wouldn't take too long would they.
