My mum's going on her OE for 6 weeks at the end of July. I'm so excited for her and at the same time, I'm completely jealous and I'm going to miss her terribly!
I want to get her a little something as a 'safe travels' gift but I have NO idea what!
Obviously, I want that something to be small and lightweight. I was thinking of getting her one of those small bookmark/card type things that they have in bookshops with poems/sayings on them etc so she can carry it around no problem. I know she is going to be really homesick for the whole time LOL so I thought a mini photo album would probably not be the best idea, because she'd just wish she was home again! (She's already saying 'ohhh so not fair, Ashlee's going to start walking while I'm away' )
Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Have you ever seen a brag book? It's a great thing for nanas, lightweight, can put a lot of photos in, etc...

I got my mum a wee travel diary. Very cool wee book that she could chuck into her handbag. There are heaps of different types. Got mine from paper plus for $14.95.
She loved it and it meant she could record little things when she saw them and also put the names etc of all the people she meet.

Yeah we gave her a travel diary for Mothers Day so she's got one of those. They are neat!! She's already filling in parts of it with contacts/list of things she needs to pack etc
I think I might still do the brag book/mini album thing. I just worry that that might just add to the homesickness!!!

AlyAyde - exactly what I was going to suggest! When I travelled on my O.E my parents bought me a St Christopher charm to wear on my neacklace! It was gorgeous and meant so much to me!

Ladies, that's perfect! Mum's a VERY big believer in saints/angels etc I just never knew who was the patron saint for such a thing
And Claire, that's a really cute thought too... I wonder if theres a St Christopher locket out there?!!
Thank you muchly will let you know how I get on with finding something.
