Ok when Caprece was born I was quite scared about changing her nappy cos I just had no idea how far to go in if that makes sense. I asked the midwives at hospital to show me how to do it but they just said I will know

I have just sort of been cleaning what I can see is that right or do I need to clean a bit in more than that? I know its a stupid question but I would hate for her to get an infection or something from me not cleaning enough

I always make sure I clean them "down the middle" with a fres wipe after I've cleaned everywhere else, not going inside but just making sure the bits are all clean if that makes sense.

"Only clean what you can see, don't go poking around" that's what we got told at our practical parenting session at Antenatal classes.

yea i just aim my middle finger around the middle, not too hard, but enough to get any visable gunk out.

lol i always thought BOYS were hard to clean! never saw a problem in cleaning girls! guess its all about perspective....

yup what the others said.
i just wipe front front to back.

im having more trouble with changing James than I ever did with Haleigh, boys are such a fiddly wiping process compared to girls

And never wipe the mucous plug out (clear/whitey colour), just leave that, it's clean... and then basically what the others have said: everything you can see.

I think it depends what your used to. I found my girls way easier to change compared to Alize Nearly 8mths on and Im getting the hang of all those bits and pieces lol.

Yep I agree with what everyone else said, cleaning what you can see does the trick.

haha I had to instruct my friend when she had a little girl too.

Sounds like you are doing alright anyway.

But then there are times when somehow they get poos right up there!?!? So strange... anyway, I make an effort to make sure to get those bits as poos can't be good up there.

Anywayyy... thank gosh I'm well past that stage!!

Ashleigh got a bladder infection when she was 6 months old and the nurses at Middlemore made me feel AWFUL because they spread her right apart to do a catheter sample and told me she was absolutely filthy    It was just some nappy cream and "stuff" right up the top that you can't get to unless you "spread". SO I am quite cautious now and try and make sure everything is clean but I don't "spread" as I don't wanna do any damage and I know how sensitive it is right up there

gee thats really nice of them ! not. I knew a girl who used to wipe her girl from back to front, and poor little mite got an infection, mind you she used to leave her at home by herself too so perhaps that was telling us something....
